  • I had a good few hours reading last night and I have finally managed to get invested…. I wasn't giving up! I think it won't take me long now. Good look with yours x

  • Good morning and happy Friday! Don't know about where you guys are but it's currently snowing here… Hopefully it won't settle. Not that I have any plans, but it seems to halt the local infrastructure somewhat and we have only just had our blue bins collected since mid-December!

It's a NSD for me today, not got any plans for the weekend either. I am very boring these days and I am not sure if my mental health issues are creeping back in, so I need to be aware of that because I didn't notice it last time until it was too late and therapy was very expensive.

I had some spare budget left this month and I have popped it in my sinking funds as I have some birthdays over the next few months that I will need to account for. I think I am already far enough ahead with my envelope challenge for the time being.

As I mentioned in my reply to Amber03, I am now making some headway into my 9th book, I might choose one from a series as my next one so I can get a head start on known characters, we will see.

That's all from me, have great days!

Think this weather doesn’t help. I have to force myself to get out at times. Hopefully better weather and lighter nights will help.

  • The weather definitely doesn't help, and the dark evenings!

Right, it's the final day of Jan so I am reporting my overall financial position…

    Fund

    Amount

    Sealed Pot 26

    £ 1,324.13

    Emergency fund

    £ 1,000.00

    Other savings

    £ 2,831.91

    Sabbatical

    £ 4,370.82

    Travel pots

    £ 4,770.00

    Sinking funds

    £ 3,740.00

    Total

    £ 18,036.86

The travel pots will be going down in Feb as I have more payments to make on our booked holidays, but that's just the pots doing their jobs… We also have 2 mini-breaks booked in March that will be quite spendy.

    That's where I am anyway

That’s a very healthy financial picture LMD. Well done on your continued recovery from the mess that you were in a few short years ago.

All pots looking nice and healthy. We have just booked a little break away end of March in our touring caravan. Will pay for it out of our “normal” money, leave our hols fund as we have a big hols in May. Not used the caravan much the last couple of years, hoping to change that this year.

  • Good morning! A quick one for me today as I have already been taking too long to count up the PAD thread and sort out the envelope challenge.

It's a NSD for me today, I have PADded £5 to the sabbatical as usual and a direct debit for holiday has come out along with a fair few others.

Still working my way through book 10, I spent some downtime yesterday playing a videogame which whilst I enjoyed, the time flew by!

Nothing else from me, have a great Monday!

  • Good morning and happy Tuesday guys, although it's my fake Friday as I am off tomorrow. Planned work seems a bit quieter today too so I will hopefully be a little less stressed throughout the day, although anything can happen with our place!

My week had originally started with lots of plans but they've all been cancelled, which on one hand saves me some money, but on the other I now don't have anything to do this week, especially as I plan to be at home this weekend. I am suggesting to hubby that we go out for a cheap and cheerful dinner at the pub on Thursday evening when he's off work.

So, it's an unexpected NSD today and my PAD was just £5 to the sabbatical. Not much happening in the accounts given they usually get pretty depleted on 1/2 of the month.

I'm pretty tired at the moment, not sleeping well and I think it's because DH has finally gone back to working his normal hours/shift pattern so he is back on nights for the first time since last May. I worry that it will be too much or how he will cope. Hopefully it will be fine and we can go back to normal but I am a natural born worrier so I just have to ride it out.

So, that's it from me today - enjoy your days!

  • Good morning! I had a lovely day off with no plans yesterday, I pottered around the house, did some cooking, sorted some things in the garden (ooh it was nippy!)… today I'm back to work to see what has been happening without me.

Yesterday the dice rolls were £91! But today envelope 4 is being used to save and that's been added to the sealed pot. It's not a NSD as I did persuade DH that we should go out for a bit tonight.

Still stuck on book 10, I watched TV last night rather than read so I will hopefully finish it at lunch and then I can start a new one after work. I think that because I have started using an app to learn another language, that is using time I would have spent reading. It's all good for the mind though isn't it?

The diet seems to be going well so far, I am trying really hard and I just hope I can keep the focus up. It's encouraging to see the numbers on the scales go down anyway 🤗

    That's it from me today

  • I don't know why I couldn't just accept that my plans were cancelled and be done for the week. No, I had to suggest going out and then we thought it would be a good idea to invite friends and then to get a taxi so we could have a drink…and then, and then. So, it ended up being rather a spendy evening rather than a cheap and cheerful pub meal.

Anyway, I did enjoy myself… and yes, I will probably do it again 😂

I did still have some budget left and that's gone to the sealed pot, along with my sabbatical auto payment. It was only after I watched the notes disappear into my 'sealed' tin that I remembered I was going to feed my sinking funds this month instead. But I can't do anything about that now.

I feel like it's going to be "one of those days".

I did manage to finish book 10 yesterday, and I have chosen but not started book 11 yet, I'll have a crack at the first few chapters at lunch and see how I get on.

Still on my calorie deficit quest (aka diet) and I even opted for the salad last night which was rather restrained, even if I say so myself. I am yet to get to the point where I'm fed up of diet food but it's probably coming 🤣

That's all from me today, I'm sure you've had enough of my waffle. Hope you all have great days!
