I've really struggled to get an appointment Ant, I do feel a little better but it's definitely loitering. I need it to clear off.

It was my day off yesterday but I had no plans so I just pottered about the house, it did mean that it was a NSD though and today is too :)

Today is pay day so £974 has been PADded to various place, as soon as it comes in to the bank, it's off again!

I think the deck will have to be paid from my EF, the only other decent sinking pot is for the car and I can't touch that until I know what the insurance will be. Seems sensible to be honest as it felt like an emergency when it collapsed.

I will just re-allocate my sabbatical PADs to the EF to build it back up again. I've done it once so I know I can do it again :)

    Open to others opinions though!

  • Hi all and happy Friday, it was a beautiful day here yesterday, but we have already had torrential rain this morning, I do hope it clears up.

It's a NSD for me today as we have no plans. I am off for my hair cut tomorrow so there'll be some spending then. I like to have a mooch about town, and I love that there's a high footfall which is not something that can be said about many town centres around here.

PAD included the usual £5 to the sabbatical. I will sort out the deck payment from the EF this weekend and set the daily PAD's to go there instead.

That's all from me. Hope you all have great weekends!

  • Goood morning and happy Monday, I've already had a busy morning at work and am enjoying a cup of tea whilst I update my budget.

It's the last day of the month so here are my financial totals:
    Sealed pot            £3449.42
    Emergency Fund  £1038.31
    Sabbatical            £2703.75
    Travel                   £2113.21
    Sinking Funds     £2952.97
    Total = £12257.66

The eagle eyed will notice the EF is still in tact, this is because I have to give notice to withdraw from that account so it will diminish over the coming days.

Today's PAD included £5 to the sabbatical and £7 to the sealed pot from my envelope challenge. It's a NSD for me today, as was yesterday so I think that's 20 days in March for non-spending. I'm out a lot this week and I have a family birthday I need to arrange a gift for so some of my sinking funds will be used for that.

Anyway, that's my update today - for now we are still improving monthly. The garden will cost a fair bit more to get it completely done later in the year but at least we won't have collapsed deck sections anymore!

Right, I'm off back to work for my next meeting

  • Hi all, it's April Fool's day... one of the lesser liked national days in my opinion. I don't really have time or patience for pranks now I'm old.

I've been busy since early doors at work again, It's my day off tomorrow so I need to get everything boxed off today if I possibly can. There's a lot happening at the moment so a day out of the office will mean a fair bit to catch up on.

So, 1st of the month means a big PAD as it includes the mortgage, but it also included £5 to the sabbatical and £19ish in interest paid to my savings pots.  It's not a NSD today as I am out tonight and then tomorrow I am out with family during the day so not one tomorrow either.

I have made the decision to keep my sabbatical payments as they are and use left over budget to build the EF back up as it may encourage me to "think thrice" about making a purchase outside of my sinking funds (I already think twice about every spend!). I would like to think I can get it back to 'funded' by the end of July... we will see, you never know what curve ball is going to come our way!

    OK, that's it from me.

Goodness me, I need to stop having mid-week days off as this week I came back to carnage and I just can't get back on top of things. Work is so busy at the moment, I even had a little cry yesterday because I was feeling so overwhelmed.

Time to put my big girl pants on though, there's only so much I can do and I don't get paid overtime so if I do any extra I'm only making a rod for my own back as they think I can cope when I actually can't. (not sure if I'm making sense here)

Anyway. Quick update - I had £30 left of my weekly budget so I have allocated that to the EF, and I have sent £5 to the sabbatical. It's a NSD for me, 3 in a row now this week as plans were changed or cancelled. No plans for the weekend for spending either, as I am on holiday from Weds next week :)

    That's it from me

Sorry to hear work is tough, I totally understand the extra work bit, you do it to make stuff easier on yourself but then it becomes the expectation. It is hard but you need to be mindful they only pay for so much of your time :)

Exactly this! I'd been under the impression I had managed to get a really good work life balance but it's been steadily getting worse, people are being made redundant or are leaving and not being replaced so the workload just gets more unachievable in the hours we have.

Anyway, I managed not to think about work this weekend and spent the majority of my time in the garden, we even had a BBQ because the weather was so nice.

No spending either, and today will be another NSD for me but that's it as I am out tomorrow night as usual and then I'm on holiday until 17th. I absolutely cannot wait, I am 1000% ready for the break this time.

Today's PAD was £5 to the sabbatical and then £45 cash envelope challenge to the sealed pot.

Right, I'm off back to work with my cuppa.

Morning all, I go on holiday on Thursday at 2:30m and I woke up early thinking of the extra bits I need to pack, plus an overnight bag as I am setting off from my sisters so I am staying there tonight and having a day with her tomorrow. She's talked me into doing her nails in the afternoon haha.

Not a NSD for me, I am off out with the team tonight for our match. We are at home though so less travelling about and then I will head to my sisters after that.

PAD today included £5 to the sabbatical which is creeping ever closer to the first £3k milestone.

That's all from me today, work is still relentless so that's where I'm headed... wish me luck!

Hi all, back from my holiday and hoping for a relaxing weekend before going back to work on Tuesday.  I’ve resisted the urges to check my work email so far but might end up peeking on Monday just so I know what I’m walking into.

Holiday was brilliant but the weather wasn’t great. I managed to time my pictures for when the sun came out which wasn’t often to be honest!

it was very spendy, but I had some budget left which I have moved to my emergency fund. Obviously the travel sinking fund has taken a hit too, so that will be reported at the end of the month.

My PADs have been continuing whilst I have been away, and today that’s £5 to the sabbatical as usual. There were a couple of NSDs on holiday, not today though as we are off out for a meal tonight with family.

That’s about it from me. I’ve got to get my widow twanky on now and do all the laundry 😂

    Much love

Did you go to Lanzarote as I know the weather hasn’t been great there? We’re going a week on Monday so hoping it’s better by then.
