You can get the money out of the sealed tins with a large flat knife. But only when its time to open them…. Not for dipping into before then.Insert the knife and jiggle. The coins roll down the blade. I used one for years for my 20p collection rather than actually open it and dispose of it.
not so good with notes though !!1 -

I'm missing the sunshine this morning, I've even had to put the light on in the office... hopefully it will clear and brighten up later. I checked the forecast and was disappointed to see that the bank holiday weekend will bring rain to our region. (Boooo)
Today is a NSD for me, I have no plans actually until Tuesday of next week so I am hoping that will be the next time I spend. We will see what happens there, something usually comes from left field to scupper my saving plans
Today's PAD was £5 to the sabbatical, and £50 overpayment to the mortgage. Hubby was reading up on mortgage overpayments the other day and acted like I'd never mentioned it when we first moved house... Sometimes I do despair! I may as well talk to the dog, at least he looks like he's listening to what I say.
So, we will be paying off the extra £50 here and there when we can, it's not much but at least it's something.
That's about it from me. It's budget reset day tomorrow so the spare budget will be sent to the EF, I did a full recce of the accounts last night (how very rock and roll!) and I'm satisfied that everything in the accounts matches my budget tracker nicely. Tonights plans are crafting and cleaning the bathrooms - sometimes I hate being a grown up!
That's all from me - hope you're all well!

I highly recommend overpaying your mortgage LMD. Ad hoc payments here and there really can add up. I had to contact my lender some time ago when my payments were getting difficult, and the amounts I had overpaid had really added up, and counted in my favour.27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 51

That's good Antomac, it's great that they were flexible. I had been saying it for ages when we first moved, but he just wasn't taking it in, and he's rubbish at saving money so I just started doing my own thing and squirrelling my money away... I'm pleased we are starting though, we still have 20 years on the mortgage so any overpayments to reduce the term will be helpful! We will definitely keep doing it.
I had £75 budget left over, so that was sent to the EF today. And the usual £5 was sent to the sabbatical. We should hit that £3k mark with the sabbatical soonAnd the EF is already back up to £535. I am so glad I started cash budgeting, it has made me think about every single penny I spend and there's definitely less frivolity!
It's back to sunshine here today, it did appear about 3pm yesterday but by then it was just a glare-y nuisance on my monitor screen... It's beaut today though, we have some baby birds in the wood and I can hear them but I can't work out where they are, hopefully when they fledge I will see them. I see less of the squirrels these days too as the leaves are all out. They do often come and raid my bird feeder though...
It's a NSD for me today, I seem to be on a bit of a roll lately. No plans for the weekend except to return a library book which won't cost anything so I may indeed last til Tuesday before spending! Wouldn't that be good?
I finished another book last night, and started book 23 of this year. I'm definitely ahead of schedule to read the 52 in 2025. I know I set it as a challenge by my goodness I am enjoying reading again and haven't watched the telly in days. That will change today though as it's F1 for the next 3 days...and football and Eurovision. Haha
Anyway you're probably bored of me now
Have great Fridays!

Happy Saturday
I don't usually post on a weekend but I find myself waiting for my hair to dry and at a loose end whilst doing surveys as they pop up on Prolific. I've not dne bad with that lately and I am already looking at £18+ once approved... The next amount I need to cash out is £22 which is week 4 of October's allocation (9th extra envelope in the challenge)
PAD as usual this morning was £5 to the sabbatical. I am only doing the grocery shop today so it will be another NSD for me. F1 and Eurovision later will keep me occupied
After a spat with (D)SD last night I'm afraid I had the face on and read for hours without further interaction. I'm already half way through book 23 so at least there was a silver lining. She did come and apologise later in the evening so that's all squared away now. Not sure it will be the last of it though!
Not much else happening in the world of LMD, catch you all later!

I had a lovely relaxing day yesterday, I even tried a new recipe which was a roaring success, so that's another quick easy meal to add to my repertoire
. Today hubby is cooking... BBQ (rolling eye emoji here) Although I will still have to marinate, do the salad and rice etc so it's not really not cooking for me is it? haha
It was a very late night for me, staying up for the Eurovision results, although I don't know why I'm always so optimistic about it, perhaps Sam Ryder gave us a glimmer of hope that I keep clinging on to... Any other Eurovision fans? I've loved it since I was a child, I think that maybe Bucks-Fizz had a lot to do with that though, I thought they were so cool
Made my PAD as usual this morning, £5 to the sabbatical and it's another NSD for me, I got away lightly as I slept in and hubby has just left to take DSD to the local retail park for something or another she wants. I'm safely away from the shops today and that suits me just fine.
Anyway, washer has just finished so I'm off to 'peg out', catch you in the morning!

I’m a Eurovision fan but didn’t stay up for the results. I wasn’t that keen on the UK song but thought they performed it really well. I thought the winning song was awful same as the one that won last year. I used to Eurovision with my mum as a child and we used to even have scorecards so it’s a bit of a tradition for me.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

We likened the winning performance to to an advert for the Shelter charity, but I can't deny he had a great voice. Our entry was OK, but belonged in a musical stage show rather than as a song performance, in my humblest of opinions.Life gets in the way...PADding is addictive...Saving's better than spending...My savings diary - Now for a healthier, wealthier me2025 1p challenge #41 | Cash envelope challenge #01 | SPC #017Sealed pot 2025 £6573 | EF £1000/£1000 | Sabbatical £3364/£6000 | Travel savings £1508 | Sinking pots £25711 -
Forgot to mention we were in PDC less than 2 weeks ago. The weather was lovely although similar to how it was in the UK. We stayed at Aqua Suites near the casino for the first time and it was fantastic. Everyone had their own sun beds on the balcony or terrace, they put water in the fridge every day and the breakfast room was brilliant, something for everyone. The hotel staff were amazing and there was a pool bar that did beer for €2 and cocktails for €5. Will definitely be back, loved it.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1
