Ooh excellent @Makingabobor2, That's just under £400 we will be better off :)

@sheilavw we don't have to pay separately for our green/garden bin here. All 4 of our bins are included in the council tax.

Morning all, and happy Tuesday! I have back to back calls today from 9am so this update will be short and sweet.  It won't be a NSD for me as I am off out tonight. Driving though so low spend and it will be paid for with my allocated cash budget for spends this week.

My PAD was just £5 to the sabbatical fund as usual, nothing else much happening in the accounts today. I got quite a lot of surveys on Prolific yesterday so my balance is already £16+, I think the next target I need it to get to is £28 so I will keep an eye on that today when I can.

Have been slowly adding a few bits to donate to charity on the decluttering front and I am hoping to finish book #6 today and start on #7 :)

All in all, pretty OK with where I am at the moment. I will post monthly updates of finances for this year on the last day of the month and update my signature at the same time.

    Have a great day folks!

  • Happy Wednesday! This week is going quite quickly for me, but that's probably because Its been busy.  I did manage to start book No7 last night though so that's good. Few more things sorted to take to charity too so I've not been slacking there.

It's dice roll day today, so £70 from those have been added to the sealed pot, plus £5 to the sabbatical.

Today will be a NSD for me, I have no plans at all until Friday when we are off to a gig in town. I also have no plans over the weekend which is nice... weekends always seem longer when we go out on a Friday somehow.

Nothing else going on really so I'm off to make coffee and some toast :)

  • Good morning, and happy Friday! I didn't want to get up this morning as its so cold and I am looking forward to having a lie-in tomorrow and Sunday.

Today is not a NSD for me as I am out tonight, probably won't be too spendy though as we are at a gig so maybe a couple of drinks, won't be a late night. I don't really have plans for the rest of the weekend so February should get a good strong start.

Today's PAD included £5 to the sabbatical as usual, and as it's the end of the month, here is my financial update for the end of Jan, I'm pleased with it considering I had the holiday spending out of the travel pot at the start of the month when we went away.
    • Sealed pot             £1924.23
    • Emergency fund    £1031.75
    • Sabbatical             £2393.60
    • Travel pots             £1264.12
    • Sinking funds         £3463.20
    TOTAL £10,076.90

Not bad really, and it's nice to see that the saving is paying off. I definitely feel like the sinking funds approach helps me manage my accounts better and I feel less guilty about getting a hair cut, nails done or going out socially when I have funds allocated for those things.

Anyway, that's it from me today. I hope you all have good days and weekends ahead :)

Your savings are really growing. By sinking funds, do you mean things you know you will dip in to, like things for house, garden etc?

Hi @Makingabobor2 yes, the sinking funds are like holding pots for things I know I have to pay for such as car, clothes, beauty etc.

  • Good morning and happy Monday! January is finally over, it seemed to last a blummin' lifetime... the sun is shining here today which is lovely but it's still cold.

Today is a NSD for me, as was yesterday, I haven't many plans this week so I should be able to get a few more before the weekend.

My PAD today included the mortgage payment but also £5 to the sabbatical as usual and £3 for filing my saving envelope No3. The accounts always feel so bleak after 1st of the month :(

I've done some more decluttering but it's definitely a marathon and not a sprint! I'e also finished book 7 and started book 8 of 2025 so I'm doing well there.

That's it from me, hope you all have brill Mondays

  • Good morning, today is going to be quite a spendy day for me...a friends birthday flowers have been ordered for delivery, I'm having 2 new tyres on the car to the tune of £226 and I'm out tonight too. At least I have my car and gift sinking funds to use...

The PAD today was just £5 to the sabbatical fund. Tomorrow we will roll the dice for the sealed pot...

I've been able to do a few more surveys on Prolific his morning, there's £25+ in there now but much of it is pending. I also checked my perks cashback when ordering flowers and once that's confirmed there's £30 in there too. I think I will use that towards my envelopes too.

I'm off out tonight so won't be able to do any more decluttering and will only be reading during lunch and maybe a few pages when I go to bed, depending on what time we get home. Pretty much back to back meetings for the rest of the day now, there's no rest for the wicked!

    Hope you're all OK

  • Thanks, it was good but a late night again, so I'm tired today and have had calls from early on. Work is busy at the moment but the days tend to go quickly.

I managed to do a few surveys yesterday so that once approved Prolific is at £30 which is great :) I really do find most of them interesting but there are a few which boggle my head trying to work out what they are trying to achieve haha!

Finance wise, today I've added £5 to the sabbatical, £94 to the sealed pot and the £189 council tax budget for this month has been squirrelled away to the house savings account. It's a NSD for me today so that's 3/5 days - not bad at all!

As predicted, not much reading happened last night and absolutey no decluttering yesterday so I will try and make up for that this evening... other than that I have no plans (bliss!)
