I went into the office today LMD and it was very quiet.

Do you have an idea of your overall financial improvement in 2024?  It must be a very impressive figure

I don't AntoMac, because I wasn't tracking the totals last year. Across everything at the moment I have just under £10k and I doubt that was the case this time last year. I'm impressed with that given thad I have had expensive holidays, a huge change of family circumstance and a lovely shopping spree which included the purchase of the tree bag.

I have a budget tracker for 2025 which will allow me to track improvements month by month for my different savings pots, sinking funds and accounts so I will definitely know next year!

Today I am working again, I'm going for a meal early doors tonight but no big plans to ring in the new year.  So it won't be a NSD but it's not going to be horrendous either. Today I've sent £5 to the sabbatical as usual as my PAD and that's me done for 2024 :)

Have fab days! And Happy New Year!

Happy new year to you as well, LMD 😊

It’s quite a mind switch to go from ‘counting down’ when clearing debts to ‘counting up’ when starting to accrue assets and there’s often a pent up demand for needed / wanted things when the debts are finally gone and there is cash available for them. It will be interesting to see how 2025 works out for you 😊

  • Welcome to 2025 everyone! I was up bright and early this morning and I have done my dice rolling this morning and managed to roll 90! So that's been sent to the sealed pot, I've also popped some cash into my sinking funds.

It's a NSD for me today too :)

  • Morning all

I hope you've all had a great start to the year. I am back at work today after a lovely family day yesterday.  I am not going out today so it will be a NSD for me.

The PAD included £5 to the sabbatical fund and I have also started the 2025 1p challenge with the payments for March and May.

I'm off work tomorrow and I have some beauty appointments in prep for my holiday so I will be spending from my sinking funds then. The travel pot has my budgeted money for the holiday, so my accounts will remain in tact for that week.

All in all, I'm happy with where my finances are heading into 2025.

  • Hi all and happy Monday! Not sure about where you are, but we have an awful lot of snow here and I am getting concerned about being able to get to the airport... I'm hoping it all turns to rain and gets washed away.

Due to the weather, yesterday was a NSD for me. Today will be too but that is planned in, I'm out tomorrow evening and then it's holiday:)

Today's PAD was £5 to the sabbatical and £53 to the envelope challenge (envelopes 1 and 52) I have decided that I am doing them alternately this year and then I will save my Prolific cash outs to fill the envelopes I'd do last; 25, 26, 27 etc so I will hopefully still complete it early in line with the sealed pot opening.

I've also joined the decluttering thread for some inspiration. After DSD moved in I had to quickly make space, so I feel very cluttered and it's overwhelming sometimes and I can't find things.  I thought I had lost my jewellery box with my engagement ring in but I managed to find that yesterday in a drawer in the en-suite! So, I need help there!  I'm not a naturally untidy person so I get very out of sorts when it's like this. I'm hoping the thread can give me a nudge to get on top of it after my holiday.

I hope you're all doing OK and staying warm in this weather? Sorry for waffling on, I'm not quite myself this morning!

I feel a bit "not quite myself" today, wonder if its the weather?  Plus the fact that I had a big row with DH last night, then had to get up early for a Mr S delivery and seem to have a massive "to do" list.  Its not that I feel ill or anything, just totally disorganised today and my eyes feel tired.  I'm sure we'll both feel better tomorrow.  I just did an online exercise class, that helps.

wow....that's a lot of items to declutter. Do you include paperwork in that as well.  I am on a decluttering mission as well, but not sure if I even own 2005 items...lol...My DMIL said the other week that she took 2 black bin bags of clothes to the CS and now had to start on the rest.  If I took 2 black bin bags, I'd have no clothes left. My big mission is stuff in the kitchen, paperwork, old photo albums that we seriously don't need any more, old games and DH's CD;s and DVDs, DH's clothes, and lots of DH's stuff from his big crap cupboard and attic, shed and garage. Oh and a bit of old gardening stuff.  Can you see a pattern emerging here?  Its nearly all his stuff....lol.
