Octopus Agile

Turned the gas off at the beginning of Feb so happy to get the house temp back up to a luxurious ten degrees now that some warmth has returned to the country. On Agile got my usage under 0.8kW a day to mitigate the high costs several times but it was becoming slightly annoying so happy to see lower than the standard tariff prices again, sticking with it for now. Happy enough with my spend on first year with Octopus as it was mitigated by a few £50 referral rewards, offsetting the loss of the winter fuel allowance, Unfortunately, from March I will lose the relatively low s/c, adding an horrendous three quid a month to my bill, so looking forward to the elusive zero s/c that is supposed to appear sometime later this year. Possibility of a grant for heat pump/solar under Warm Homes Local scheme from April, so may be able to get rid of the gas s/c.0

I should think the chances of Octopus offering the zero standing charge option on the Agile tariff are pretty remote, it will probably only be on the standard tariffs.wrf12345 said:so looking forward to the elusive zero s/c that is supposed to appear sometime later this year.

Just about to do the same but in the terms it says if you switch away from Agile you have to wait 30 days before you can rejoinGingerTim said:
And just to confirm from my own experience - I've just hopped back onto Agile after 10 days on the 16 month fix.RavingMad said:A nice drop tomorrow. Tempted to jump back onto Agile now
There's not a 9 month rule to do this, is there?0 -
They seem to be quite flexible in how they apply that term - I'm up and running again on Agile.RavingMad said:

Tempting though it is, I'm going to stay put on my fix for the time being. I mean clearly I WILL get electricity envy for all you lot running washing machines and dishwashers and cooking the sunday roast at half what I'm paying, but that's by the by right now! I'll give it until the end of the month and then see what gives I think.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

They may be forced to offer that by Ofgem, but a version of Agile or Cosy where the peaks are prohibitively expensive may also work with TOU with a zero s/c.0 -
Or they just bang the standing charge onto the unit rate.wrf12345 said:"I should think the chances of Octopus offering the zero standing charge option on the Agile tariff are pretty remote, it will probably only be on the standard tariffs."

Around half of my electric bill is standing charges and near enough 99% of the gas bill. I'm not really that bothered if a zero charge is with Agile or standard to be honest but very doubtful that a zero rate will become a reality ...wrf12345 said:"I should think the chances of Octopus offering the zero standing charge option on the Agile tariff are pretty remote, it will probably only be on the standard tariffs."

Deep seated hatred of Scottish Power and all who sail in her - would love to see Ofgem grow a pair and actually do something about it.0 -
Being off Agile for a week has made me realise how much, mostly only in the past month or so, I've changed my cooking habits because of the high prices in general and then higher peak. It's lovely to not need to think what time it is before using the oven or washing machine.3
