Octopus Agile

Agree on the quality of life piece EH. And the fact that it's possible to swap in and out of different tariffs means that everyone can do what's best for them. I'm not doing much cooking at the moment due to life being a bit busy (lots of reheating, but that doesn't take the same amount of power), so I'm importing an average of 6kWh/day in Feb (supplemented by a tiny amount of solar). And obviously I'm able to import most of what I need at the lowest prices... even if they're not that low at the moment.3

During the days when Agile is expensive it's quite interesting to compare it to Smile - that product has potential of some sort.
https://bmrs.elexon.co.uk/system-prices
Sort of add 20p to prices 16-19 and 8p to others.
Last week prices were between 9p and 40p comapred to Agile 20-46p.
Although the main problem still remains - lack of predictability - so you could only hit the sub 10p periods by chance

Agile's multiplier means that it exaggerates high prices.TroubledTarts said:
That would be a possibility if they had kept changing the tariff like tracker but they have not. This is just a true reflection of the current prices.northernstar007 said:another crazy 24hrs ahead, i wonder if octopus really are trying to kill this off0 -
Formula and multipliers have not changed since Agile was launched I think during 2018, stayed same whether prices high or low, not as if customers are tied in.bob2302 said:

If you have capacity in your battery to be able to store overnight what you use during the day, Economy 7 is worth a good look, if you're not able to use an EV or heat pump tariff. I swapped this week and now getting 7 hours a night at under 14p. Daytime rate at just under 34p. If your daytime use can be minimal, it might be a good option. Particularly useful on these endless grey days when we're getting minimal input from the panels.Make £2025 in 2025

Or switch to Tomato, i have and fill my batteries at 5p overnight with a daytime rate under 24p(under the price cap) with a couple of 2hr 14p slots chucked in for good measure. I changed to them on the 8th Feb and so far i'm averaging 9.5p kWh including the standing charge. Batteries are a definite plus and as generation picks up then that average will only come downSlinky said:If you have capacity in your battery to be able to store overnight what you use during the day, Economy 7 is worth a good look, if you're not able to use an EV or heat pump tariff. No idea if they'll last but at that price i'm willing to take the risk as for me it's working out cheaper than i've ever managed on Agile!!!2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)4 -

I'm on an old tariff deemed 50% export with an average of around 6p, although with my batteries i now export less than 20% of my generation so in effect for what actually does get exported is more in the way of 15p kWhSlinky said:
