This month isn't shaping up too well at the moment, is it! It also feels frustratingly like even when the generation projections seem to be suggesting we ought to be seeing lower rates, they're just not appearing.

I guess the price of natural gas isn't helping matters either

Agile is great when energy prices are trending down as it's ahead of the curve. When they are trending upwards however, you most certainly don't want to be ahead of that curve.

Without battery storage, I'd imagine most will struggle to make Agile work for a while.

Too true - according to Octoprice I saved a whole £1.72 against SVT last month and am currently 8p ahead of the game for February.  Considering my current Standing Charge is 12p a day lower than SVT it's not been a brilliant 2025 so far - especially as my contract is up in 10 days ...

Deep seated hatred of Scottish Power and all who sail in her - would love to see Ofgem grow a pair and actually do something about it.

If I change to a fixed tariff when my year is up shortly, are we ok to swap back to Agile if/when prices come back down?

I've opted to renew Agile but this month's bill has averaged 25p (+ vat) which is fine but at the expense of avoiding the 4 til 7 slot (and beyond now) so don't see the point of renewing to Agile

Yes, but not within the first month (unless you use the 14 day cooling off period if applicable).

The underlying problems for the UK still exist, Agile (and tracker) kind of masked it as they performed really well for a period of time.  Agile is very vulnerable to day to day conditions which are not good right now.

I switched from Agile to Cosy on the 2nd of Feb (my year was up on the 8th anway) as having an all electric home with one of the dreaded electric boilers (rented home so not my choice), Agile is just too expensive at present (Octopus have not yet requested any proof that I have an Electric Boiler).

Its also very handy knowing in advance what times my cheap electricty will be and the 16:00 to 19:00 has been cheaper on Cosy than Agile
    just recently.

I expect I will switch back to Agile at some point in the Spring or Summer.

Feb 2024 average Agile price was 14p, and since has slowly been going up reaching 27p in Jan 2025..

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, the Ofgem cap is backward looking so Agile is a good place to be in a falling market, but when prices are predicted to rise (such as now), then Agile will be ahead of the curve and may not be the best place to be.
