Now that we're beyond a month since the nice cheap 1st January my month to today comparison to Tracker/Flexible/Current fix all show a ~£1.50 saving on the month with Agile despite 26p/kWh average for the month. The difference in standing charge between my Agile and any new tariff is 5p a day, which accounts for £1.55 a month, and so I'd be breaking even by looks of it if paying the same standing charge.

The average is somewhat misleading as the cheaper overnight slots bring down the overall figure, so not brilliant at the moment unless you have a battery and there is often a peak in the early morning as well, as per today. The good news is that LiPO4 batteries are falling in cost and small set-up to cover ultra low user is hundreds rather than thousands via Aliexpress, if you can DIY a separate circuit and relocate most of the electricals so they can feed off it (would mean rearranging my lounge and drilling hole in the wall that separates it from the kitchen, so not a big deal for me). Problem is the payback time as would be saving a kw a day and would need some very low overnight kw/h's rates to make up for charging and inverter inefficiencies. Still, tempting! If we ever get TOU with no s/c but some very high peaks then it would be a goer.

For comparison with what you can achieve with solar and batteries, we used 220 kWh at 15.04p+VAT.  This is 7.1kWh a day which is up on our normal average of about 6. It's only our second January with the system, and this has been much colder and greyer than last year. I am ruthless about changing the charging slots overnight to the cheapest slots I can use, given the limitation that our Solis inverter only has 3 slots each for charging and discharging.

Have had some sunnier days recently so hoping I can be a bit braver and not fill the batteries to 100% overnight where I'm paying more to import, and subsequently exporting at a lower rate.

Payback would be beyond my lifetime I think on any battery system (I'm 49) I'm using 72-100 kWh a month

Average is that simply time i.e. sum of 48 1/2 hr prices / 48 - per day - or your actual average - weighted by use.
