Ha, I was about to switch to Cosy and then checked the emoncms forecast! Wind next week, hooray. It looks like it's all been a bit grim though so I'll see what Tuesday's rates are with the wind.

Does anyone here use both AgileBuddy and Octopus Compare? They're telking me different things - one says Cosy is cheaper for us at the moment, the other says it's been more expensive. We're talking single-digit £ either way so not a huge difference (I'm just tired of expensive evenings, morning peaks, and no actual cheap periods, whereas on Cosy we could target the cheap periods) but it would still be good to know which is correct.

It’s tough being on Agile right now. Agileforecast is predicting another week with off-peak hours pretty much at or above the SVT, some hefty peak-slot spikes and even evening/overnight rates remaining steadfastly above 30ppKWh. Sat/Sun not showing any meaningful opportunity to sufficiently redress the balance either.

Despite significant load shifting to the off-peak periods over the past 7 days I’ve only managed to average a fraction under the SVT.

Unless the outlook for Agile improves I’ll switch as it’s simply not worth all the effort to end up paying SVT anyway.

Yes, I've been musing on throwing in the towel, lately. Then I remind myself I lived through The Great Dunkelflautes of 24/25 and 25/26 and it will all turn out for the best, eventually.

I moved off Agile to Economy 7. A known seven hours to charge the batteries overnight if needed in the winter, and if we stray into using the grid between 4-7pm, which is the only time we ever usually do, it's not at Agile premium rates.

We have a Solis inverter which only allows for 3 charge/discharge slots so I was having to reprogramme each day to try and get the cheapest slots. It was fun for a while, but became too much of a chore.

Currently on a fix which is 12.99 overnight, 30.97 daytime. We don't have an electric vehicle.

Have you looked at Octopus Cosy , you get 3hrs(0400-0700) + 3hrs(1300-1600)+ 2 hrs(2200-0000) "cheap" rate the 1600-1900 is expensive but you can fill the battery 1-4pm to alleviate that.

The problem with Cosy now is that the fixed option is very expensive 16p, 33p, 50p compared to non-fixed 13/26/40p.

So E7 fixed is much much cheaper compared to fixed Cosy - and in these days fixed is well worth it.

Those Cosy rates don't compare well with my fix. We're low users anyway, so the only time we tend to use a bit between 4-7pm is if two of kettle/oven/microwave use crossover. We have a gas hob and are pretty good at using heavy draw appliances consecutively. I think the maximum we've spent on electric in one day this summer has been about 12p and that was only once. It's usually about 3-4p. A full battery from overnight in winter will see us through the day if we get a couple of kWh from the panels.

As non battery/solar people we are still just about scraping through as cheaper on Agile but it's certainly getting squeaky. We'll stick it out for a while longer not least as we're getting back towards windier season now, and when things are good on Agile these days, let's be honest, they really are good!
