It's almost worse with solar only. You're missing the cheap daytime Agile because your panels cover it, then you have only expensive stuff in the evening.

I've been having fun playing brinksmanship cooking. Starting the cooking before the peak prices finish without going over the dwindling PV output. It's quite exciting! (if a little limiting as I can't use the combi-oven that late in the day, just the induction hob) It's given me an insight into how amazingly efficient induction hobs are, as a bonus.

We were going to get an induction hob fitted when we redid our kitchen, but kept the gas one when the electric prices shot up. Have since found out a heart problem may involve a pacemaker in the future, so glad we kept the gas.

I have both , if you keep a reasonable distance c 18" I have not noticed any problems with my icd

Right, decent wind tomorrow yet still those stubborn morning and evening peaks, and it's not getting better after that. I'm switching for a bit. Not planning to stay on Cosy in the long term I just need some guaranteed cheap periods!

Octopus Compare tells me I'm better off, compared to SVR, over a 30 day period, but that includes plunge pricing where I used electricity I wouldn't have used on SVT, so it's a bogus comparison. I'm worse off on a 7 day time-scale.

Agile has always been much cheaper for me in summer, but this one has been expensive, despite the removal of the 3p levy and the sunshine. It's the high evening prices that have been the worse. I've been wondering how much it's driven by the rapid growth in air-conditioning - it may be a permanent feature. .

It's the Orange Idiot's war, mainly. We're just seeing what SVT customers will see in the coming quarter.

I don't think A/C is the problem. There's generally plenty of solar when people are using it. Mine has never drawn a Watt from the grid, as my solar panels more than cover its consumtion. Counterintuitively, more A/C will be a help in flattening the duck-curve in future, so will help to keep prices lower, overall.

Maybe, though we're never really able to make huge use of plunge pricing - lack of physical and mental energy limits that. I'm actually really relieved to now have guaranteed cheap slots every day rather than having to hold out for one every few weeks. Right now this feels like the right decision for us; it would not have been the right decision for different people in different circumstances and that's fine.

[I'm also grateful Cosy is even an option! The SVT would not have been better and the only other tariff under consideration would have been EDF FreePhase, and I don't want to switch suppliers unless we really really had to.]
