All good fun, willing to do it for a few days but not forever.
Sad thing is that it does affect the general economy as well, can't be bothered upgrading the TV to 55-65 inch as it will consume more power, same for electric oven - cheaper to use my excellent Sharp microwave. There has been some sun so if I had solar/battery it would have been fine but I now use so little electric it is impossible to get a payback out of it, though I suppose exporting most if it would give a minor income.1 -
As a side note, tomorrow's prices are back down to "normal"1

None of the apps I have tried seem to be able to compare the cost of usage with Agile vs an E7 tariff. When you compare to a fixed (or flexible) it doesn't factor in the different day/night rates - so the savings aren't accurate.
I've made my own spreadsheet based on the agile pricing and my usage data exported, but it's a bit of a faff.
Anyone know of anything that works for that?0 -
Even if the Octopus compare app doesn't support E7 nativity (I've not checked) , you can enter a custom tariff so you can just enter the relevant rates for the various time periods and do it the way.

"Not wanting to offend but you're in the later stages of life and you're happy to deny yourself the pleasures of a bigger telly because it uses more electricity? It's not an income issue as far as I can remember "
Simply not interested in handing over crazy money to an energy cartel, all these trivial things add up to real savings over a twelve month period. I do sell stuff and upgrade after a reasonable amount of use (ten years on a 40 inch LED TV, for instance) and I am not worried about money as such but not inclined to throw it away. Just bought a Canon R100 camera for £400, but it only cost me £20 as I sold a couple of aging Nikons to cover most of the cost (one large and one compact, the R blending the two into one, so to speak). I am amazed at the younger generation, they never try to hustle on price and seem to get a slight buzz out of handling actual cash.
Good to see Agile prices back down, apparently yesterday the electric generation was close to not covering demand, hence high prices, so I did my tiny bit in lowering useage - if everyone was on Agile it would save the Grid a fortune.1 -

Yesterday the kwh rate was bonkers high at over 66 p a kwh for several segments I reverted back to my old energy crisis times and just switched the lot off at the consumer unit ( fridge freeezer as well ) and went out for a walk for 2.5 hrs , and thats what I will do when the rates get too high .0 -
