  • Looking on Octopus Compare, they have an October 2024 version of Agile - but the Agile T&Cs on Octopus' website were last updated in Jan.  Have I missed something about a new version, or is Octopus Compare getting ahead of itself?
I’ve been on Agile since February 24 and I don’t believe they’ve changed the formula to calculate the pkwh each half hour or the t&cs. The standing charge does  change every 3 months but they probably don’t need to change the t&cs for that.

The only real difference is that the term is now fixed. It was open-ended, previously.

Ah, I wonder if that's it then - new tariff name for each new standing charge, with the fixed term meaning the SC is fixed for 12months.

We will probably go onto Agile when our term on Dec 23 Tracker ends, so for now just keeping an eye on how the cost compares with normal usage, no load shifting.
  • Similar situation to me. I'd be interested to know what conclusions you come to. To date my usage has given me a better deal, just, with Tracker Dec 23 v1

There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know

So far over summer Agile would have been marginally cheaper for us - but the family member who uses the electric shower the most has changed routine over the past few months so that'll have an impact on the pricing.  Difficult to make an accurate comparison though if costs were to sit a bit higher over winter - but later Tracker versions are several p/kWh higher than Dec23 version, for projecting future Tracker/Agile comparisons.  We'll see.

Quick question - I have been playing about with a few numbers and currently it appears we could save on Agile even without much if any load shifting. As some may recall, were no strangers to load shifting anyway having spent 20 years on E7 prior to moving here, so I’ve got little doubt that we can improve on the “bare minimum” we’ve seen. My OH is currently a wee bit twitchy about the change - we’re currently on a fairly solid 15m fix, so I can understand his edginess. My question is - and I am sure this is findable somewhere on Octopus’ website but can’t see it currently - if we change to Agile and then decide it’s not for us, how soon can we jump back to the variable?

I find that even with my typical usage which isn't particularly careful (although I do generally try and avoid showering or firing the oven up in the afternoon/early evening peak) I save a fair amount using agile vs Octopus' other E7 tariffs.

These are the average daily prices for the past 365 days and the red line is the current cap (drawn by me :) )
So you can see, not doing anything you would have been better off than any standard, capped tarriffs. Then by moving away from red zone, making most of the good "blue" days you can only decrease your costs.

  • My account details confirm that we are on Agile Octopus October 2024 v1

Heavy prices today, even outside the normal peak rates, switched off at 8.00am to 1.00pm and went on a shopping trip, planning to use the computer on battery running a 32 inch monitor (25W) post 7pm rather than my 40 inch TV plus HiFi (75W), no cooking other than nuking four cups of coffee in the microwave in the cheaper morning and pm slots. All good fun, willing to do it for a few days but not forever.

Sad thing is that it does affect the general economy as well, can't be bothered upgrading the TV to 55-65 inch as it will consume more power, same for electric oven - cheaper to use my excellent Sharp microwave. There has been some sun so if I had solar/battery it would have been fine but I now use so little electric it is impossible to get a payback out of it, though I suppose exporting most if it would give a minor income.

I's it just the fact the SC is more on the October agile?
