Only if you believe I shouldn't have any fun. If I'm being paid to refill the car it brings down my overall motoring cost over the year. I don't charge the car unless the price is less than 10p/kWh, if pushed, but I mostly try to get paid to fill it.MP1995 said:

I was thinking wear and tear for being paid 0.5p kwh. I wouldn't know where to start with EV running costs per mile and depreciation per mile to do the math.Netexporter said:

Better negative prices Thursday potentially if you want to max the fun0 -
In general I am a big fan of Octopus and of Agile in particular, but just wondering if I am unique in having to chase them every month for a statement? I'm still waiitng for for the June/July statement which should have been produced on 25th July and according to the app is still subject to manual checking (although their Twitter adviser says everything is ok). I've cut my monthly DD down to £1 because I'm a bit wary of them now and pay whatever the app says is due but would like to have an actual statement to compare against what I think I have used and when.Debt Free Wannabe by 1 December 2027

Deep seated hatred of Scottish Power and all who sail in her - would love to see Ofgem grow a pair and actually do something about it.0 -
The cracks are certainly appearing from growing too fast imo.MikeyPGT said:In general I am a big fan of Octopus and of Agile in particular, but just wondering if I am unique in having to chase them every month for a statement? The octopus mini helps and the usage and costs shown in the octopus app compares to apps like octopus compare.
We are one statement late but I'm not worried we know what we use down to the penny.1 -
It could be useful to have a list of things one could do when prices are negative, especially in summer!
1.Descaling kettle
2.Killing weeds with boiling water
3.Legionella cycle
4.Washing machine drum clean
5.Energy intensive dinner - large roast
6.Extra bake - cake, bread..
Winter is so much easier, extra °C and everyone is happy.

7. Washing machine clean 90oC
8. Washing and tumbeldryer
9. Dishwasher
Also have you noticed the disclaimer Octopus now have about not going silly, must be after people contacting them about fuse board humming and issues when they overloaded them, saw someone did an over clean and it broke the oven glass, as well as fan heaters melting.....
Chasing those pennies can actually cost more than it saves.0 -
Virtually no brake wear as the regen does 99% of the work. Tyre wear is about 1p per mile. I only do about 4000 miles a year, these days, so I've lost more tyres to age cracks than tread wear in recent years. Use it or lose it! There will be a certain amount of battery degradation even if you don't use the vehicle.MP1995 said:

So, I did 118 miles at 4.6miles/kWh which, conveniently, will mostly be paid at 0.46p tomorrow. So I'll be paid 12p for tonight's jaunt against £1.18 of tyre wear. So 4 hours entertainment in some of the loveliest scenery in the country for a guinea. Bargain!1 -
Not forgetting the depreciation is something like 50p per mile.
Just mentioning this for others than may follow the advice thinking they are saving money.0
