So this is the long awaited "free electricity"! On agile that hour is approx 4p per Kwh for me, so if I put in some real effort I may save 10p, don't think I'm gonna bother.....
And you only get it on energy you use over your normal usage. I already do anything I can easily move into that part of the day.
I was already planning to get my laundry done in that slot so we'll see what difference it actually makes - will be interesting to see how they come up with a figure for 'normal usage' as mine varies from nothing to shedloads in any particular period depending on the price.
Average usage over previous 10 equivalent 2 x 30 minute slots (ie. last 10 weekday slots at 1-2pm).
  • Average usage over previous 10  equivalent 2 x 30 minute slots (ie. last 10 Thursdays at 1-2pm).
It's actually over the last 10 weekdays at that time (and if there's a session at the weekend it'll be over the last 4 weekend days at that time). That's the same method used for determining the average for saving sessions, I think.

And very similar to the original National Grid one as well.

So my average is under 0.2kWh at that time in 9/10 with exception to 9th August when the prices were negative and I used 2.5kWh, so averages to 0.4kWh. I've used today about 6.5kWh so 6kWh free, 6*3p = £0.18  :D

Would have been nicer if they just set the Agile rate to zero for that period rather than complicate things...

Why does it complicate things? It just changes the calculation to a multiplication by 0p instead of 3p, but the same calculation is required - it is no more or less complicated.

I doesn't, three separate rates apply to different components of usage during that hour.

Supposedly the average of your previous 10 weekdays for that time period. Don't know if that's for the whole hour or each h/h worked out separately.
