I can’t remember badmemory 🫣🤣 It may have been the WM and the microwave for the soup but I thought it was still swishing when I entered the living room with my soup. Dad would have been straight down to sort it 🥲

Lol KK, end of an era with no roast chicken. I must try not to detour via the chip shop 🤦‍♀️

Not sure where I will buy a replacement if it does blow again. I will need installation and the old one taken away. Will sort it out when I get home from my sisters

hey SYA - it’s always worth a g@@gle of the make/model and basic description of the issue to see if there looks to be a common/known fault/fix. As you say it may be time for a new WMC but if it’s a cheap fix - it can’t hurt to look.

Googled our dishwasher when it refused to work and bought a £17 part online and watched a yootuna vid to replace it step by step.

Re chickens - how very dare they?!? 😳 have you got a c@stco nearby - their rotisserie chicks are less than £4 but you do have to have a membership. If you haven’t got one maybe someone you know does?

On a side note saw on the MSE newsletter that morro’s medium chickens are 1/2 price (not cooked tho)

Thanks Suze I did have a look and it said first reset the RCD so I did and that seems to have worked so far. Will see if it trips again next week when I do another wash. It was early on in the cycle so it may have been the heating element. It’s a shame as it’s bright and blowy today & would have dried my bedding but I can’t handle the stress at the moment.

Have been in the shed rummaging for tools to lend to my niece and the toolbox was full of water 🙁 maybe a leak or condensation as it’s a metal shed. Have emptied the water out and dried everything and brought it inside. She’s on her way to pick me up and we are off to the pub for lunch. Hopefully they will have a carvery on today 😊

Carvery was lovely Suze, especially the cauli cheese 😋 was stuffed so I went for a walk after niece dropped me off. Popped into friends & she gave me some flowers and bottle fizz for Mother’s Day bless her 😍 I won’t see her until next week when I get back from my sisters.

New tv licence bill has arrived payments were £14.95 will now be £12.97 then 5 x £15.45 then £15.51 then 5 x £15.45. I don’t know why they can’t just divide the amount by 12 and make them equal 🤷‍♀️

Also got the council tax bill now £112.21 x 1 then 9 x £109. Last year was £110.51 then 9 x £106. Could have been worse!

Called into Dads and emptied the dehumidifiers. Then popped back with wd forty and sprayed the front garden gate which had started creaking.

Tomorrow I am just going to sort more of the cupboard and pack ready to go on Friday

Have been looking at washing machines 🤯 It’s so difficult to compare. I would want:

    • cold water fill
    • Main 1400 spin which can be run without a wash cycle first
    • quick wash (15-20 mins) at a low temp (20-30’) with a spin at least 1200
    • choice of spin strength
    • Choice of water temp
    • Full Wash cycle less than 1 hour

I can’t believe some wash cycles are 3 hours!! 😳

My current machine came with the house & wasn’t new then so has given me over 3 years use. I always had hot point or h00ver before but this is inde sit. Argus do delivery, installation and recycling for an extra charge. If I bought the current updated model it would be £319. I have £2101.87 in the diy / emergency pot.

I will keep looking but this seems to have most of my requirements. The only thing is the new model doesn’t display how much time is left to the end of the cycle. I think I could live without that 🤔

Longer wash cycles may be more energy-efficient.

    See…

'Longer wash cycles (specifically "eco" modes) are generally more energy-efficient because they use lower water temperatures, relying on longer soak times and increased mechanical action rather than heat to clean. While they take more time, these cycles often use less water and energy overall compared to quick washes, which require higher temperatures to remove dirt rapidly.'

    Thanks @JGB1955

To be honest I have only used a few cycles on my current machine

    Cotton 59’ = 59 mins

    Cotton 45’ = 45 mins

    Mix 30’ = 30 min

    Express 20’ = 20 mins

    Spin & drain (1200 spin)

As it’s just me I don’t have that much to wash but I struggle to get my head around a 30’ wash that takes 30 minutes costing more than a 3-4 hour wash.

Let’s hope that my current machine is ok next week 🤞

Haven’t heard back from the solicitor about a reply I sent on Monday. Will give them until this afternoon then ring. I don’t know what’s worse, emails every day or a sudden lack of reply 🙁

SYa, you describe the exact same cycles I also favour on the wm! Agree with you, seems mad it can use less energy in a 3 and half hours wash no matter what the instructions say, (no offence jgb🫣)anyway who has time due a 3 or 4 hour wash, by the time it is washed the sun's gone in!

🤣😂 lol Tresinia my thoughts exactly

Having a lazy day today. Something has come up from the solicitor which may be a deal breaker. Will talk with my sister over the weekend & decide where we stand. Am hoping buyer will just ask for a reasonable reduction & I can talk my sister into accepting. At this point surveys & searches have been done so hopefully buyer will not pull out if they are going to lose money. It’s something that would not put off most experienced buyers offering on older houses. 🤷‍♀️
