Escape to the country & living off savings

Hello dear SYA,
grief/loss is a journey and however you feel everyday is valid.
Some days you will feel practical and able to do things; other days not so much.
Take each one as it comes and do whatever you feel able to on that day.
It sounds as though you are already doing a lot of practical things despite how raw you must be feeling.
I'm pleased to read that you are still producing nourishing meals for yourself which will keep your body going even when your heart may not be feeling it.
Sending love and strength
A x

Thank you Arrietty ❤️ I do find that I cope better some days when I am busy.Lovely sunny bank holiday here. ☀️ Washing hung out at home then up to dads and guest beds stripped. One load done & on the line. 2nd load just finishing and I think the first load may be dry. It’s very warm, doors open and fan on. Can’t bring myself to strip dad’s bed as it feels so final 💔 my sister has said she will do it tomorrow.Went to get a cold drink out of the fridge and we must have turned it off 🙄 Checked & it came on when socket turned back on. There wasn’t much left in it so emptied, wiped & left it turned off. Another load of towels to do next and then will pop home for lunch and put a second load out at mine. Rainy days in the forecast after today.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Thanks Tresinia and Suze ❤️
My head is spinning with inheritance tax and trusts 🤯😵💫 Thankfully some wonderfully knowledgeable people on the probate board have pointed me in the right direction.“Payday” today so have transferred the usual £833 from savings. Today I am off to nearby little town for brunch with my friend. When I get back I need to open an account with motor way to get a quote for the car. Car insurance runs out 11 Sept so need to try & sell by then. Battery had gone flat so I went to hall fords and bought a trickle charger £33 out of diy (emergency) pot, so that has been recharging yesterday before the rain. Will hopefully be able to claim as an executor expense but if not I will keep the charger. Car is not taxed so can’t be driven but motor way come to your home and drive on dealer plates. Several people have recommended them so hopefully it will be straightforward 🤞
We started taking donations to the charity shop 😢 including dad’s many old allotment / diy clothes which they can sell for recycling. We can drive up to the back of the shop and drop off so it’s ideal for the large amount of stuff we have.My sister has returned home & back at work next week so I will carry on with help from my lovely friend and my sister will get back when she can. I will try to rest over the weekend but still so much to do.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

I remember doing stuff like this. My brother did most of it as I lived a 3-4 hour drive away.
It was strange in a way. You throw away so much rubbish but one thing that comes of the process are memories. Reminders of things you'd forgotten about.
I hope you can find the smiles amidst the tears.5 -
@Organgrinder agree with this. The loft was a veritable trove of treasure, maybe some sweet memories lie up there for you sya, I do hope so x3

Thanks @Organgrinder and Tresinia
The loft was converted into a bedroom years ago so there was only a small amount of storage under the eaves and dad cleared it out years ago. There has however been a lot of reminiscing and laughter amongst the tears
Had a nice brunch at ‘spoons yesterday with my friend. Paid from entertainment fund. Then spent all afternoon setting up an online account and profile for the car 😵💫 lost the plot by the end of it 🤯 Should go live today. Tea from the freezer.Today my niece is coming over with little lad and the dog and we are going for a walk. It’s sunny here at the moment so hopefully should be a nice day ☀️0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Thanks Suze ❤️
Am struggling with information overload at the moment 🤯 Next 2 days are full on with admin then I need to start emptying the house. I need to get some shopping today between photocopying in the library and estate agent coming. I also need to phone motor way re car, phone house insurance re year dads house was built as I need to get unoccupied house insurance quotes for the end of September. Plus ring council tax and council planning about dads loft conversion 😵💫
Tomorrow I am going into town with my friend to pay visit the bank re the executor account. Then we are going to have some lunch (and maybe a cheeky cocktail) and some retail therapy 😊
Wednesday will be boxing up kitchenware (pots & pans) and taking to the charity shop. Hopefully my sister will come over next weekend to help with the rest0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
