Wow that must have been quite a thing to do, handing back his allotment. So lucky the next person who takes it on, to get one in such good condition.

Glad you’re feeling a bit better. The butterfly house sounds like a lovely idea but yes, your dad would have that out of your hands and put up somewhere whilst you were still boiling the kettle! It’s moments like that where you really feel the full impact of their absence. Sending hugs x

Wishing you better. It would be depressing to you if your dad's allotment became unkempt so well done on handing it back quickly.

Glad you're feeling a bit better in yourself, I've had a similar lurgy but thankfully it seems to have moved on now.

A butterfly house will be a lovely addition to your space, I always enjoy watching them dance around the garden.

Hugs for handing over the allotment - that must've been hard.

    A xx

Thank you KajiKita, Suze, DIA and Arrietty ❤️

KajiKita you are so right, dad would have been down in a flash with his drill 🥹

Arrietty your lurgy sounds just like mine. 🤒 😵‍💫🥴

Went up to dads this morning and cut his grass with the little electric mower in his garden shed. Did a few emails. My friend came to my house and picked up the petrol mower from dad’s allotment for her husband to try out & we went back to hers for a cuppa. Have been lounging on the sofa this afternoon.

Tomorrow my niece is coming with little lad 🥰
She will take some of the veg from dads allotment.

Once she goes home I will do more of dad’s paperwork and start calling the banks.

Edit … feeling a bit grotty now. May be something to do with all the jafa cakes I have scoffed 🐷 🤦‍♀️

Feeling so low and tired today. 💔😔

Went up to dads last night to shut the curtains ready for the light on a timer to come on and 2 people were sat outside in a car in the dark with just their mobile phones lighting their faces. (terraced houses). It freaked me out a bit. Maybe it was all innocent and they weren’t casing the joint. I went in, closed the curtains, put lights on and stayed for an hour. I just sorted more paperwork. When I left the timer light had come on and the car had gone. Felt unsettled since.

So sorry to hear you are feeling low and tired SYA - please make sure you are eating well
and enough to keep your strength up.

as regards the car parked outside - is there a local neighbourhood watch near your dad’s house? You can approach them, and the police for advice.

Am sure there are better informed on here than me but I would be tempted to get one of those external fake house alarm boxes mounted on front of the house.  And speak to your dads neighbours about your concerns - they will
be able to keep an extra vigilant eye out for you.

take care SYA - big hugs xx

Sya, totally normal to feel so low,  though that doesn't help,  I know.  And it's good instinct to be aware of things going on around you,  probably nothing but still. I found some peace in the funeral in a strange way,  but this journey is a long one I'm afraid.  Plenty of rest,  eating healthy food and some daily exercise helped me,  along with sharing the journey with other family members who loved my mum and dad too. As with everything in nature,  time is your friend but the one-day-at-a-time nature of it,  makes it feel too hard.  At the same time,  each day can mean different things to you and it will be this which helps the process in the end.  Focus on each little part of the day in bite sized pieces and if it gets too much,  take time to stop and catch your breath. Talk to your sister every day if you can.  And although there's a lot left to do,  we all must come out on the other side eventually where you will sometimes find those single moments of sunshine,  then a few more. You've got this.  And breathe.
