Thanks Tresinia and dia 😊 Yes I too will find comfort in familiar things. ❤️
We finally got the original will yesterday as the solicitor has been on holiday for a week 🙄 I could understand mums when she passed but dads is pure gobbledegook 🤯 We have agreed to try my union free legal advice line first. If no joy then we will have to see a solicitor to explain it. We will have to use a solicitor anyway for inheritance tax (if due) and capital gains tax. Notified utilities. One bit of advice is always look up their bereavement helpline instead of just calling the normal number and they are more helpful than you might think. All bills will be sent out but do not need to be paid until the house is sold.Today we are going to make final arrangements for the funeral, phone tell us once (tax office, DWP etc), phone legal advice line and clear & cancel dads mobile phone.Tomorrow we will make a start on financial stuff, bank accounts / isas and credit cards etc.We still need to sort out dad’s car. We also need to harvest latest produce from the allotment and then hand it back.Chicken and stir fry for tea last night. We need to decide what to have this evening as it’s meant to be up to 32 degrees by 5pm 🥵 Maybe a takeaway!0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
House sale OCT 2022 = NOW MORTGAGE FREE 🤗
House purchase completed FEB 2023 🥳🍾 Left work. 🤗

Sya, it is a lot of work to sort out an estate but the little things catch you out, I spent so long sorting out my dad's emails, as I wanted to read all stuff he had sent to various people over the years, it was like a snapshot into a different part of his life and so bittersweet. Good advice about using the bereavement teams for contacting organisations, they all did a great job when I used them. Also the 'Tell them once' service for state and government related stuff.2

Morning Sya - thank you for that post of the processes you are going through - I’ve made notes so thank you very much.
Hope the union solicitor is able to help 🙏🏻 and please don’t work too hard as you need to look after yourself as well.
try to keep as cool as you can - curtains closed against the sun and cooling compresses of freezer packs wrapped in tea towels.

So organised.
I hope the people who get your dad's allotment appreciate the work he put in to it. I imagine it was meticulously kept.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Good morning SYA,
you're doing a remarkable job; there is so much to do and communicating with many organisations and having to repeat your loss must be draining.
With you in spirit

Thanks Tresinia, Suze, DIA and Arrietty 😘
To be honest it is exhausting and I have gone down with a sore throat and fever 🤒 Hope I don’t pass it on to my sister. Hot weather isn’t helping but we did treat ourselves to an ice cream from the van when he came down the street 😋 🍨 Busy day yesterday and struggled to get legal advice after being passed onto 3 different solicitors but finally got a lovely lady that clarified so we can carry on. Lost my voice by the end of the day!Last list of financials to do today. Feel a little better this morning. Funeral next week. DS & gf & dogs are coming up to stay for a few days. Will be lovely to see them even though sad circumstances. Looking forward to doggy cuddles 🥰0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Sya, I too, seen to get ill when under stress. It's like our defences are down. I think you can class ice cream as medicine if you have a sore throat🤩. Nice to have some family and doggy hugs to look forward to. Keep your chin up
