Staying on NSD 7At lunchtime OH and I went to shops - got helium, a few extra balloons, and candles for DS’s birthday. Both OH and Mum told me off for being stingy when I said I wasn’t buying helium for my only child’s birthday. Fair judgement I think. Also adjusted our monthly budget sheet after receiving 2 very unwelcome messages:‘Your energy bill is going up’ and‘Here’s your new council tax debit’. £90 a month gone just like that!I’m still trying to protect our mortgage OP and holiday savings so other ‘envelopes’ are having to absorb the hits namely our emergency fund and home improvements (now closed because it’s had £0 deposits for months… emergency fund is receiving not much more than £0).Dropped OH at the airport this evening. He’s staying at an airport hotel tonight since he’s flying out very early in the morning. I’ll miss him over the weekend but I do love the bed to myself at least for the first night. I can be the STARfish I know I am. 🤣Grateful today for solving a few problems at work, for people appreciating the help and saying so, and for silly funny chat with OH en route to the airport… no doubt having the bed to myself will make it on to tomorrow’s gratitudes 😂

Still NSD 12, food shop done - was very minimal as I was short on time, but it will do until next week.
Have added a couple of bits to the charity shop bag- need to get the 3 bags to the charity shop now!

Starlight_at_Sea said:Grateful today for people like Thrifty, circumstances sound so hard for some of the children you are working with, and I absolutely see that that can result in behaviour and feelings that impact on their time in school, with knock on effects to many. When you mentioned the jigsaw success my heart flipped, and then when it came to the reading, I was thinking what if people like Thrifty weren't there, providing those opportunities to regulate and a pathway to engage in a school setting. Thank you!!Use it up, wear it out

Felt queasy during the night & when I woke up, so had some stomach ease tea, which helped.
Thank you @apple_muncher for your birthday wishes for DH, he didn't want me to wake the boys up early to give him his presents, so he said to do it after school. I finished his birthday trifle after tea, but as he had baths to organise, then can't eat between 8-10pm (due to tablets he needs to take), it will be saved until tomorrow.
Work went a lot better today, so pupil & I both felt better 😃 had s rainy morning, but the sun came out in the afternoon & the class were able to play outside without coats on.
Sat sewing after tea, then had a bath. Nearly dropped my book in the water, as I was so tired, so went to sleep for a little while. Lots of photos on FB of the Northern lights, so popped my coat on over my PJs & went out to look. My phone camera didn't pick any up, but I was able to see with the naked eye. DH going to try with his proper camera.
Grateful for @Starlight_at_Sea post, watching a Hare cross the road in front of my car on the way to work, a good day at work, DH having a nice birthday, the boys homemade birthday cards
Hugs @grandmanerd, you're doing so well. I hope you feel more positive tomorrow xUse it up, wear it out

I am on my way to the airport. So excited to see my friends and some sun. Grateful for the fact I am able to travel frequently, for living where I do, for good friends.

Lost my post. Yesterday evening got better. Having just managed to get a drink all over me, my dress and the bed, it had to really. Getting the bed ready for sleeping looked daunting (I was stretched out but my legs were across things) but it went quite well (having notebooks and files ready for addresses and websites/ decluttering and other tips/ and domestic/ leisure/ health files helped a lot) and about 2/3 of the bed is sorted. Setting up the lamp and CPAP machine was a chore but they've worked well overnight (I had visions of the lamp and myself entangled in a crumpled heap on the floor).
The ironing board unfolded itself across the small space between me and the bathroom (2nd time this week) and I might have killed the phone (will put it in a sack of rice) and I really need to get to grips with meal planning and food prep (kitchen is grim, last weekend I did chopping veg sitting on the couch). However I could look at the chest of drawers all day. One candle, two noticeboards, my grabber stick (temporary) and large photo of my beloved grand-daughter.
The sun has decided to come out to play today so I'm going to play along, pottering and clearing (getting the accumulated bags of rubbish and recycling out to the bins will make a huge difference). I'm grateful for my bed, paper systems in place, large print puzzles and books, not rushing.7 -
Afternoon turtles
Been a very trying couple of days with some bad news about two teenagers I used to work with who are both critically ill (not related just a really horrible coincidence). Keep checking the news and social media just in case even though it's not a good idea.
Yesterday was meant to be blood donation day, and I didn't have much time between getting home from work and needing to leave, so I picked up a pizza from the little van that stops across the road from our flat for dinner, as well as a cheeky chocolate brownie. As soon as I finished the last slice of pizza I got a text through to say the appointment had been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. That's the last three bookings that have been cancelled now, which is a shame, but I've booked myself on for the next available date! I had a small win of £10 on the postcode lottery too, have put the money into my savings pot.
Today hasn't been great I have to confess. My dad contacted me, I think his and my mum's marriage is on the verge of breaking down. My mum is very highly strung to say the least and is getting worse, and my dad seems to have finally had enough. Not completely sure what he's gonna do at this point. I got really tearful at work and was comforted by an amazing colleague, who suggested I go home, so I did, and have been working/crying/staring outside distractedly ever since. Really uncertain times and I just feel really bad for both my parents as I want them both to be happy, and neither of them are.
Anyway... enough depressing talk. It's Friday, it's payday (for me anyway), and I hope everyone has a good weekend!8 -
Sending you lots of hugs, lcc.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7

Maybe they need this process to become happy @lcc86 , you love them both, just keep telling them that and let them sort it out. Must be a shock though! If they will be happier apart, then that is what they need to be.Today I have sat and worked out money, over and over again. This time next Friday it will be payday, and I should be okay again. This week however is going to be tricky, so I need to inventorize the pantry and get my butt in gear. Oh.. but can I be faffed?? Not today I can't!!Last week I bought another second hand book with my survey vouchers, and another one is being delivered on Saturday, and tomorrow I also get £5 off a £20 order at the big river store and I have £14.70 in credit from other free survey vouchers already so free books!! ...I really wish you could lose weight by reading. Honestly, evolution missed a trick on that one - who do I write to to complain?4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
