Does anyone know if you switch to the Natwest Select account do you need to set up any direct debits or is it just pay £1250 in and use the app? the account I would be switching from I don't pay any DD's out of or have my wages paid into.
    No direct debits are required.
    Thank you. Ridiculously easy then.

Any one else had trouble with the "choose your branch" part of the application?  It says there are 0 branches available and won't let me continue until I select one.

I had this problem too, I think the search didn't like the fact that I live in England. If I recall correctly I got round it by searching for Belfast and selecting a random branch from the list that popped up. I've never had any issues since.

Did you try inputting the postcode of an Ulster Bank branch, and not NatWest, considering it’s an application for an Ulster Bank account?

I think I entered the sort code for the Belfast branch instead:  98-00-60

I chose a branch at random. I find it weird how old-fashioned Ulster's processes are given how unified those of the other two banks in the group are. The NatWest and RBS apps are identical apart from the logos and many of their accounts are the same too. Maybe Ulster are a work in progress.

Anyway, I now have my bit of paper to sign and return so the account opening is progressing.

Does anyone know if opening an RBS foundation account runs a hard credit check? It's included in the switch offer, so if they don't then I wonder if I could try that, since they always refuse me a Select account.
