once you have access to your account it takes a good 3 days before access on the app is allowed. don't be surprised if you receive a "you changed your mobile number" text. that seems to be the start of the 3 day countdown for app access.

Just looking at chancing these although I have had a Nat West just recently. Thinking of using one of my accounts for which I have received an opening account offer (ie coop, First Direct) as a donor. Is there any reason not to. I see most are discussing using monzo etc but they are already used. Whats the thought process?
  • You can use whatever account you want. Monzo and Starling are usually mentioned if you need a quick donor account because they don’t do hard searches on new customers.

Unless the T&Cs of a previous incentive say you need to keep the account for X amount of time (to my knowledge none of them do, but always check yourself) then you can switch whenever you want after getting the money.

I'm not having much luck with Ulster.  They sent me a form to sign which was sent back 1 week ago and have heard nothing since.  Might wait until Monday and ring them.  Going by previous posts here, they text when the account is open.  During application it never asked for a selfie or anything else whereas Natwest wanted this and a photo of my passport.  Odd.

has any one had the switch incentive payment from Ulster as yet, mine completed yesterday so just got to wait and see if the incentive payment comes through.

also those whom have had the incentives did you pay the £1250 in before or after the switch completed, does it make any difference?

Well, my switch to RBS from Halifax successfully completed on the 28th. I did receive an incentive from NatWest last year, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that I receive the incentive.
I received an incentive from RBS in 2019 and one from Ulster last year but still nothing for me so far despite 6 days after the switch into NatWest completed and the £1250 transferred in  :'(
I had a bonus from NW last spring but I gave it a go. Switch to RBS completed last Friday on the 24th, paid the £1250 on Tuesday 28th, incentive paid in today.
    01.12.2020 - CC £16,839 / Loan £18,820 / EF £0
    03.07.2023 - CC (0%) £9,859 / Loan £0 / Savings £10,110

I know some have had luck who have previously had the Natwest incentive, with a Ulster account and getting the incentive.

But can you get the incentive if you open an RBS account? Seems like less faff opening an RBS account than with an Ulster account

I applied online (16 Feb) and it took three working days for the signature form to arrive in the post (21 Feb). Apparently, some people are chosen for electronic identity verification via HooYu/Digidocs, whilst for others, their online application is converted to a paper form and posted to the applicant for a signature (but no identity documents are required).

I posted the form back in the pre-paid envelope (22 Feb), and six days later (28 Feb) I enquired via their web chat for a status update. I was advised as below:

I have checked the details and I can see your account is opened successfully but not yet activated which will be done by the processing team by next working day and you will be sent an email with the account details. And debit card ordered for your account which will be delivered within 5 working days to the address entered on the Application. If you haven't received your account details via email, then I kindly request you to wait till you receive your debit card and chat back with the Customer service team who will help in locating your Account details.

The next day (01 Mar), I received an SMS and an email at the same time both informing me my account switch had started and would be completed on 8th March. Today (02 Mar), I received the debit card in the post, as well as an email containing my customer number.

I'm still waiting for the account details (number and sort code), an online banking activation code and a card reader. So far, at no point have I been informed (via post/email/SMS) that my account had actually been opened.
