I want to switch to NatWest, preferably the free account ("Select" acct).I might be daft but don't understand how to initiate the switch. From their website, I go "Switch here". It takes me further down the page where the legal stuff is and below that there is a section with "All okay? Apply for a bank account online today. " When I hit "continue" there, I only get these options:I don't get it, how do I switch???
- Open a sole Select account
- Open a Joint Select account
- Change my existing NatWest current account to a Select account
- Switch a current account held elsewhere to my existing NatWest current account
1. New customers
To get £200, you must:
(a) apply online for a NatWest Select, Reward, Premier Select or Premier Reward account (‘new eligible account’) via natwest.com or the mobile app from 14th February 2023. The application must then successfully result in an open account. Please note that in some cases, if you apply for a NatWest Select or Reward account and do not meet criteria for that particular account type, we can open a Foundation account for you instead. If this happens you will still be eligible for this offer if you also meet conditions 1(b), 1(c) and 1(d) below;
(b) as part of your application, transfer a non-NatWest current account to your new eligible account (which includes closing your non-NatWest current account and moving all your payment instructions [if any] to your new eligible account) using the Current Account Switch Service online or via the mobile app;
(c) deposit £1,250 into your new eligible account within 60 days of opening your new eligible account; and
(d) log into our mobile banking service within 60 days of opening your new eligible account.
I believe this means that new customers must switch at the time of application in order to qualify, only existing customers, i.e with accounts opened before 14/02/23 can initiate a switch at any time.
You can initiate your account switch separately from the account application and still qualify for the bonus.
2. Existing customers
If you already have a NatWest Select, Foundation, Reward, Reward Silver, Select Silver, Reward Platinum, Select Platinum, Premier Select, Premier Reward, Black account or Premier Reward Black account (‘existing eligible account’) opened prior to 14th February 2023
It specifically defines existing customers as those with accounts opened before Feb 14th/20230 -
I opened a NatWest current account in 2021. No switch or bonus involved - I just opened it.
I switched away from NW in early 2022 (to get a bonus with another bank) so I was only with NW for about six months.
Nevertheless, I've not received a switching bonus from NatWest before, so I wonder what my chances are if I switch back to them?
Reading about some of your applications being declined, I'm wondering whether they'll take a similarly dim view of my application. What do you think?0 -

Usually ok with switch but NatWest seems all mismatch or something
First email indicates email changed or updated ( this makes no sense)
3 email your account is set up
4th email your account is set up and ready to use ( even though I don't have unique number but got my bank card just a day a go)
5th email your service will be set up on this date ( am assuming account is up but it the actual switch hasn't taken place , as my old bank is still active)
Do I register or will I get unquie number by post? If I am registering. Out what two options do I pick personal or permier customer or credit card only customer???0 -
Hi
I had the same experience so went in to chat and they gave me my account details so I could sign up to online banking. When I registered it gave me my customer number from last time I banked with them. This may explain why I wasn't given the option to register during the account application and the lack of a formal welcome email or letter. You choose 'Personal' and you will need your account number, sort code and debit card number.
