I want to switch to TSB, but my account at present is a Joint Account, will TSB allow this to go through as its a one person account? Wife is ok with it by the way.
No I tried, you have to switch a joint account to a joint account.

Even though I have previously switched joint accounts into single accounts with other banks before
You can only have joint accounts if you go into TSB branch
A fool and their money are easily parted.

Yes, have an appointment booked next week to make my account joint.
  • Can you set up the DD's after you open the account or do they have to switch from your previous account?
  • Can you set up the DD's after you open the account or do they have to switch from your previous account?
    From the T&C

By 24 March 2023 you must do all of the following:

    2. complete a full switch to your new TSB Spend & Save or Spend & Save Plus account using the Current Account Switch Service • a full switch means you need to transfer all active credits and debits from your old account and close it. This must include a minimum of two active Direct Debits

I've chosen to have two direct debits that have paid out on the old account before I start the switch. Others may conclude that this is not necessary, but, hey ho.
  • I agree that you need 2 DD's before the switch and maintain them after to be sure of fulfilling requirements.  I Initiated one for me and my wife from Moneybox and it was showing on old account within a week The other2 were water and lottery which also showed within a week.
    Cheers!!!
  • For the card payment, will bookie deposits count towards the 5?

Yes, there are no MCC exclusions. Usual caveats about using debit cards for gambling and how that might be construed by that institution's future credit scoring algorithms apply tho.

If i don't make a switching instruction at account opening, how is it done later? Is it possible to start it online or is it a phone call?

Bank Account Switching | Switch Current Accounts | TSB Bank (just a docusign form)
  • Do TSB tend to pay around the deadline? Or like some others pay not long after you've met conditions?
