sammy_kaye18 said:@ArbitraryRandom as someone who has done A Level Textiles it looks pretty straight forward to me. Can I ask what the finished Doll looks like?
I'm sure it will go together great. I always have a bit of a blank getting started the first time - just got to get over that wallI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.2 -

All I would say is Just remember to reverse some of the pattern pieces.
This looks like the cutting lay out and only a 6 pieces need reversing
My thought would be... do you need ears?
I've never made rag dolls with ears or with a pulled up circular nose.
Equally you could make the legs a bit longer and round them off with a U shape- then do without the foot parts.
The simplest rag dolls have straight bodies, legs & arms without darts
Old sheeting would work for your first attempt
I know you have bought a pattern but look at this YT- very simple body shapehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JmP-JsBxrc
I remember I made a doll for my cousin's daughter and she wanted to change the hair style. One day she got the scissors (unobserved) and chopped all the hair off! Bit of a catastropheBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Thanks
I didn't even do textiles to GCSE, and I don't think I've ever done anything with a pattern before, so it does seem a lot.
But the reviews are excellent and apparently it's easy (plus it has a youtube video guide that I've not watched yet) so given I've got until 8 November (and actually a little later as she's going away for her birthday), I think I'll try at least cutting this out and see how it goes.
Nothing to loose but time and some fabric that's going spare anyway; Just sorry in advance if I end up being incredibly annoying.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.6 -
Katiehound - I agree that the pattern is complicated for a beginner. I have never put ears on a doll but have done a nose - attach photo.

I love that dress fabric.

ArbitraryRandom - Georgina was one of a series of 13 dolls that I made in 2020 - all sold to raise funds for SA. I name all my dolls and take a photo so each doll is unique.

Well that’s August done and dusted and I am happy to say that I’ve achieved rather more than last month (which was definitely not difficult).
· 1 birthday foldover top gift back (forgot to take a pic)
· 1 bag repaired for DiL (no pic)
· 5 birthday/general cards
· 9 Christmas cards
· 1 Golden wedding card
· 2 sets of tortoise/turtle memory games – 2 Mummy tortoises/turtles, each with 10 pairs of baby tortoises/turtles. The babies are stored inside the mummy's shell.
@plumduff55, your cushions are lovely. Your bags for your hols are ideal. You are so creative – and your sil is very lucky! That’s going to be a pretty quilt.
Oh, @sammy_kaye18, you are a marvel. How you are focusing on improving and moving on under the circumstances is wonderful, and even having the energy to think about crafting, never mind do anything, just blows my mind. How you’re still functioning with everything that’s happening to your family is astonishing. I hope that’s the 3rd misadventure come and gone now. Sending hugs.
Well done, @florenceem, for making more stocking advents; I like the colours – I can smell the pine trees! Flossy is so cute; I really like her hair. Gertie is very glamourous. Hello, Hattie and ida! The last time I made dolls was back in the 70s! Clementine (I think) and Albertine were in “Golden Hands” a crafting partwork – and all the issues are in my loft. I enjoyed making them, but I never felt the hair was right.
@Soontobeoap, you must be the best craft class leader ever, being able to provide something to do with no notice!
@KajiKita, that’s going to be a lovely picture. I still haven’t picked mine up yet.
Hello, @ Arbitrary Random, we will all be excited to meet your rag doll. I wonder what she will be called.
In September, I plan to
· finish the mini library quilt for my daughter’s birthday in October (she’s a librarian)
· make at least 5 Christmas cards
· another scrapghan
· 3 ‘butterfly’ scarves
· start swapping spare room (bigger!) and craft room around

September 1st, wow where has the time gone!
@Florenceem Flossy, Gertie, Hattie, Ida and Georgina are so adorable.
@plumduff55 love the pouches. Your quilt is gorgeous. I have an ambition to make a quilt next year with my mums stash. I will try and do some small items first to get some experience, and will be asking for advice.
@KajiKita pretty butterflies, do put a pic up when it is finished.
@ArbitraryRandom, I am looking forward to seeing your doll grow.
@sammy_kaye18 sorry you are having a tough time
@greentiger you have been busy - those Highland cows are super.
I have at last mounted my clock face to go to the framer. He has a backlog of 6 weeks or so it will be a while. I have also made a tetrahedron bean bag to prop my tablet up on my lap instead of holding it. I am hoping next month will be more productive2025 craft items finished 11/12
