@Florenceem Gertie is gorgeous.
Today I've made another bag - this one is for me as I gave the last one to my dsil who is going on holiday with me. My brother is coming as well but I don't think he'd appreciate a make up bag 🤣🤣🤣. My sciatica has flared up again so I'm not going out for the next couple of weeks and hope with the rest it will settle down again. On the bright side i will have lots of time for my crafting 😀

plumduff55 - love the make up bag. Do you piece fabric bits and then cut out the bag pattern?

Yes @Florenceem I just sewed fabric pieces into strips, then sewed the strips together. Then I placed the fabric on wadding and did a fancy stitch along the seams. I then cut this to size. I used a really good tutorial on youtube by the Crafty Gemini called " How to sew a scrappy zipper pouch". It's one of best tutorials I've seen with very simple and easy instructions. I think this is my 4th bag from this pattern and it's simple to make different sizes xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order

That's beautiful! Hopefully one day I'll start again but putting that zip in? Hard work?Have to go back to the rag doll - I love her.My grandmother made one for me one afternoon because I asked repeatedly (no idea why) and used old blue sheets and wool for hair. Her eyes were made from cardboard.I loved that doll like none of the expensive ones I had and my Grandmother kept saying to get rid but I wouldn't. Kept her for years and don't know what happened to her.That's some 65yrs ago!Thanks for the happy memories

My mother's turning 70 in a few months and she's asked me to make her a rag doll... then I saw the picture on the home page
I've never sewn before (not since a few lessons in school), so I have no idea why mum picked this particular 'challenge' for me, but I'm hoping to be able to make something half decent.
I must admit I've gone against the ethos of the thread and bought a pattern for the doll and the dress, and I've had to buy needle, thread, and some large scissors, but I think I've enough old clothes and similar to not have to buy much more (I'll address stuffing once I have something to stuff, I'm sure there's old pillows that can be sacrificed if needs be).
I hope that's enough 'stash busting' that I can join here for advice and support as needed? Hoping to make a start next weekend once everything has been delivered.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.10 -
ArbitraryRandom - I wash pillow and cushion inserts to get stuffing for my dolls.
I have 4 dolls as wips at the moment - legs are made and stuffed. Arms are stuffed and inserted into bodies. Just ironed the charity shop clothes that I bought and washed yesterday. I have 2 lots of clothes ready to cut up for the first 2 dolls.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Silly question, but what does wips mean in this context? I tried googling 'doll wips' and it autocorrected to some results that I'm... fairly confident... aren't the right meaning
I'm guessing from the rest of your post it means limbs made but not sewn together?I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.7
