2023 - No Craft Spending - I WILL bust my stash and make pretty things!!!!!

was it on this thread that someone wanted the elderflower cordial recipe? Sorry, confused as I have read pages & pages in the last 2 days having been away for over 4 weeks!
15 x L. elderflower heads needed. Makes about 3 litres. really easy. You can also freeze the heads if you have surplus as long as you don't thaw but put straight into boiling liquid.
here's the recipe:

the weather away was dire so I did a lot of 'making' especially dog coats for rescues abroad. next week will hope to post the list and a picture or two. I finally made some little owls from one of the 'scraps' lists- think they would make cute decorations. (yes, photo to follow!)

Nothing new to report except I do feel the urge to create something 🤔 just not sure what at the moment with the limited stuff we have unpacked. Everything I go to do always seems to need something else!5

okay, got to this earlier than expected (cooler day here!)
Here are some of the 19 dog coats I made. sadly that's the end of the purple cotton rufflette tape- bought a whole roll of it from a charity shop a few ago for a couple of £s. these kennel coats are made of old blankets and an unpicked Gor-ray skirt!!
Also the 3 owls. Don't like the eyes on the red one, will change the buttons when I find better ones.
the sizes of the owls are based on 8 & 12 cm square, 4 & 6" squares, 12 & 18 cm squares. You can really do any size as long as you use the 2:3 ratio.
haven't amended my list yet as I also made:
33 cards,
4 mittens,
6 woven dog bones
12 crochet angels
This time I had a few Tee shirts with no side seams so was able to cut them as a continuous strip and roll into a ball so the 'bones' a bit bigger than usual and will therefore be worth £1 eachBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Hi, I've finished the first snowman jumper. I'm going to start a pink one for dgd who will be nearly 4 at Christmas. I'm going to knit a tension square first to make sure there's enough room for the original on the pattern.Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order

Love the jumper
was it you Plumduff altering sleeves- which was a pain!?
I had an aunt who always used to knit the sleeves from the top down. Very easy I guess if you are doing raglan. The thought was (I think) that it was then much easier to replace worn out ribbed cuffs, or even to change the sleeve length. Might be worth an experiment especially if you are knitting small sizes.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Finished my stocking Advent calendar. I use folded & stitched bias tape for the hanging string. The stockings are attached with mini pegs. I did two strings to hang the stockings.

@Katiehound that's a good idea especially for kids cardigans where they always outgrow the sleeves first.

@KajiKita, 😊 And the outdoor lights? You were just getting ahead and organised, weren’t you?! 🤔😉😊
I wish! When it’s dark here in Scotland, it’s too blooming cold to be out! Plus, we have motion sensitive lights in the back garden which will negate any other light (just realised that!).
Oh my jings! Books! This year, with a very heavy heart, I have already given away 105 books (yes, I am sad, and keep a note of such things, including what books they were) I have another bag with 18 books in it – so far – ready to go. I could weep. I’m only scraping the tip of the bookberg.
Isn’t it great to see your crafting space taking shape?
@plumduff55, what good idea to get a wee duvet to make your matching things. Enjoy your other new fabric. I’ll have a look at that wool website (I usually use Wool Warehouse). I’ve got the opposite problem to you – I’m overrun with DK (all smallish quantities) and 4ply (even smaller quantities) and very little chunky/bulky and, until last week, no Aran at all. I do hope your health is improving. Just found your log cabin-ish cushion; it’s great! You have the patience of a saint with redoing knitting. The snowman jumper has turned out really well. My Mum was the same. She never ever used a pattern; it all came out of her head. She was the same with dressmaking, I did not inherit her patience – do you remember that quilt that I ended up throwing in the back of a cupboard early last year because it wasn’t working out? It’s still there. I shudder whenever I come across it. I will get back to it – someday, lol. It will not beat me.
@sammy_kaye18, I hope your arguing days are over – and that that parcel has turned up - so that you can get back to more important interesting things.
@Soontobeoap, your craft club is fantastic. You have so many great projects. I really like those lavender wands. Thank you for the instructions. I do not like the smell of lavender – I want to, but it reminds me of the furniture polish my Mum used.
@old_fogey, I’ll have to have a look at that YouTube video by "Just get it done quilts". The problem I’ve been having is I’ve been ‘researching’ when I should be ‘doing’. You Tube and the internet are like falling down a rabbit hole for me. I’ll be joining you and @plumduff55 on the naughty step too. Apart from buying the Aran wool for my turtle matching game, I bought some wee bits to make a beaded dragonfly with my 5yo granddaughter. I can’t believe she starts school on Wednesday!!!!
@florenceem, great bunting and stocking Advent calendars. I have one I made some years ago, with little Christmas stockings. They’re numbered, but not strung together and I demented my grandchildren by hanging them on the tree, so it was hard to find the right one for the day! Those are lovely beaded pens! That’s another pretty card.
@Katiehound, thanks for the elderflower cordial recipe (and the other ideas), You’ve been a crafting superstar! I think that red owl looks cartoon starstruck! They’re all fab. What did you use to stuff them?
I have had bit more crafting mojo, so I’ll have something to show at the end of the month. Looking forward seeing more lovely things and stealing more of your ideas.
