2023 - No Craft Spending - I WILL bust my stash and make pretty things!!!!!

Two cards and a notebook to report. One card is a new baby card, the other is a mother's day one. I thoroughly fell off the wagon and bought more stuff 🤦♀️ I will have to use lots or decide to sell some!! I did sort out some heat Embossing powders I wasn't going to use, so I will see if I can sell those.
I also bought some material to make a world book day costume with- it's currently drying on the clothes horse ready to be cut out. I think the costume will get worn lots- a green shirt and skin coloured & tattooed t shirt for underneath (he wants to be a particular pirate dog called barker). The tattoos are made from iron on patches- because I think it will get lots of use, so better than drawing some tattoos on!

Soontobeoap- I have been trawling through the internet for ideas on darning holes. I remember reading an article about someone who embellished well loved clothes but the cost was... OTT! but I could not find a link to that, the garments were seriously little works of art and better than the original.
However I wonder if one of these YouTube videos would give some ideas:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMrFMEkPI7s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hnUJIXNPWY

I bought a lambswool scarf for my shoeboxes- yes, only spent 50 pence, but was cross to see that I hadn't examined it closely & there were a couple of moth holes. That was before I found the videos! but I mended them by embroidering a flower over each hole!
I have also knitted another pair of mittens (sludge green again) but managed to make a 'bird's nest' of the yarn as I was knitting both at the same time with the 2 ends of the ball. Not the best idea! they need sewing up.
I have also made a further 8 doggy duvets.... the deadline was yesterday as someone collected them and saved me a 15 mile trip. However also yesterday another 3 duvets landed on my doorstep and I haven't had the where-with-all to check the bags! I've had enough duvets for a while! actually these aren't very thick so I think they will be doubled up. A friend collected them from a charity shop in town as they no longer sell them, but this way they didn't go to landfill.
Anyone struggling with embroidery thread don't forget to check out charity shops. Sometimes they have (round here anyway) individual skeins of Anchor or DMC or even bags of oddments
Happy crafting everyone
saw another really interesting video where they were using ribbon in the bobbin casing for embroidery- hope I have bookmarked it!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lT8AH2gfXj0
someone asks if gift ribbon will wash but if you look closely it is that narrow ribbon- the proper stuff!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

and forgot to say Wraithlady that perhaps you could line your bag?- the next one- rather than sewing French seams then you wouldn't use so much material? or would that make it too thick / heavy / bulky?Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Hello all
Nice to see you all again - I know I have been a bit AWOL - getting to grips with all the diabetes information that has been thrown at me lately as well as some dodgy side effects so I have been staying close to home and Im hoping it will calm down!
Anyway I powered through my robins and had to order 4 colours of DMC. The last ones arrived today so I can finally finish them and get them framed so I will post a picture when I have done that and framed them up. My MIL birthday is sunday so I have tonight and tomorrow to get it finished.
No other crafts really done but Im looking forward to moving onto something new once this one is finished.
Welcome @keepcalmandcraft
nice to see you again @vulpix and congratulations on your new upcoming status as Granny!
Loving the bag @Wraithlady I havent seen a bag like that before. I will have to research and maybe use some of my fabric stash to make a few!
@plumduff55 I hope the dentist went ok and that your waistcoat is coming along nicely.Making Changes To Save My LifeCurrent weightloss - 2lbs (week 1)6 -

Think the original aesthetic was for the stitches to show both outside and inside, but I'm not sure it does a lot for me.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

I saw something about a flat seam. I wonder if that would use less fabric but give same result as French seam. Im going to try it when I'm extending a sheet next time (I think that's what the stitch is for, however I'm sure it would work in other places)

Well here they are
my 3 little robins all finished and framed ready to gift to my MIL tomorrow as part of her birthday present.I have enjoyed this little kit from Amazon and don’t know whether to find another little kit to do as a side project to some main crafts or not.I am close to my allowance for spending and have plenty to be doing and stash busting so perhaps I need to make an inventory first!Making Changes To Save My LifeCurrent weightloss - 2lbs (week 1)10
