Tiggermad, your mosaic is beautiful!
Lovely cards, emsi_b I’m in awe of your painting/calligraphy skills!
That’s useful advice for all of us thinking of trying free motion embroidery, daisy_1571. Thanks. That’s perfect material for your cup cosies.
Jings, RavenRover, I have never had a birthday voucher from Hobbycraft ☹. On reflection, it’s probably just as well!
Good for you getting 20 cards done, soontobeoap. Lucky neighbour.
Good work re finishing a blanket, Wraithlady.
kiss_me_now9, I have 5 fountain pens waiting to be cleaned and refilled (all different colours). I keep thinking I should make pretty coloured papers when I’m doing this. Sometimes toothpaste takes the stains out. I was taught that embroidery thread should be no longer than from your fingertip to your elbow, can’t remember by whom, but I do stick to that – usually.
I love your puffin card, florenceem. A perfect swag bag - isn’t it great when you get asked to make some random thing
plumduff55, what you wrote was “give myself a cash budget and take no cards “. What I interpreted that as was that you were not buying any card at the craft fair. Which, of course, you may not be, duh! You won’t need to buy anything at all; you’ve enough wool to keep you going all year! (great planning, btw). What a year you have ahead – a wedding and an adventure!
Those wee robins are coming along beautifully, sammy_kaye18. I hope your sister is ok. Making the birthday card with your daughter will be such a good experience – if you don’t fall out, like I used to when I was trying to teach my daughter to knit! In the end my best friend taught her.
katiehound, you are fairly clocking up the stashbusters, such a variety too.
It’s surprising how time consuming some ‘simple’ crafts can be, cupcakecraftscuddlycanine.. Making 40 leis is certainly tough going.
Hi, suzeesu2000. Good luck with your projects. I agree with daisy re setting short time limits – and be aware that things don’t need to be finished yesterday. And if you’re not enjoying something, stop for a while, or even change to something else; you can always pick it up again later,
old_fogey what a lot of memories that stash dive must have brought you. Enjoy making more.
I’ve not done a lot lately.
· Sewed buttons on 2 pairs of husband’s trousers
· Made the mattress for the cat carrier
· Finished a wee crochet jumper (3-6 months)
· Made 11 Christmas cards, 1 Valentine card, 1 birthday card and 4 general cards
In the pipeline
· 2 gift bags, the cover for the cat carrier – if I have enough waterproof fabric
· Another wee crochet jumper (6-12 months)
· more Christmas cards, Granddaughter’s birthday card, anniversary card, St Patrick’s Day card

Good morning, well I'm happy to say I have now finished the main body of the waistcoat. Just the bands to knit on and the sewing up which won't be bad as it's only the sides and shoulders. The top 3" of the back is in the different wool batch. It's ever so slightly darker but there's absolutely no way I was going to rip it out again. Once I'm wearing it I just won't think about it 🥴.
I'm then going to write a list of my next few knitting projects. I can see if I need anything to complete them ie buttons etc. I'm thinking of making small Xmas presents in between bigger projects. My daughter in laws love fingerless gloves and I'm going to knit them fair isles ones this year. A good way to use up odds and ends of wool. I just need to find a nice pattern as I've never knitted patterned ones before.
Ive got the dentist this morning 😱. I've waited 4 months for this appointment and what would have been a tiny filling is now a big one that is quite painful. So for once I can't wait to get to the dentist even though I'm still terrified.Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

@greentiger that's a good idea! I'll be changing my inks over tomorrow or Wednesday I think as I've come to the end of this barrel already.
I've had to halt the embroidery for a day or two as I did a lot yesterday and have hurt the tip of my thumb which is annoying. But it's starting to come together nicely!£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January5 -
Finished one of my UFO's - a boro bag( https://www.vam.ac.uk/articles/make-your-own-japanese-boro-bag) but mine is more boro-inspired than properly boro.
Will do pics tomorrow as they're on my phone.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

Cant wait to see pics @Wraithlady. I have a tunic top that I love the shape of but it has a small hole. Tiny infact that unfortunately sits on my bust. I now only wear it around the house but sometimes pop to the shops and forget. Has anyone got any tried and tested mends that look like they are part of the original design which is leaves on little stems. I have thought of adding a few flowers but not sure how without it looking odd. The positioning doesnt help. I would like to join again this year. (I know I'm late but completely lost last year's thread and the link to this year's until now!)
My plan is to complete 100 projects and I have already done 5: 3 x embroidery pictures my daughter gave me for Christmas, a quilt for my brother's 60th birthday and a cat bed for my brother's cat using leftover fabric from his quilt. I had to buy the fabric for the front of the quilt (bought last year) but used an old duvet cover for the back fabric. I gave it to him on Sunday and he was delighted. I'll post pictures soon.
I have enough fabric/craft stash to last me for 100 years so intend to use up as much as I can and spend as little as possible!Stash busting challenge 2025: 0/100 £0/£100 Fashion on the ration 2025: 0/666 -
Hi,I haven't been here for weeks and weeks. Life has been hectic and difficult.Poorly 89 year old Mum and Mum and law. Things have just about calmed down to manic and I had great intentions to crack on, but have developed a streaming cold. I have been awake all night so have caught up with the 20 odd pages I had missed. Absolutely outstanding makes.I have enjoyed all the photos and ideas. I can't recall now but how did the new craft club go? Peg bags, I made one for my daughter with an off cut of a pvc tablecloth. I made the usual coat hanger with a gap at the front. I put little rabbit teeth in the gap, rabbit ears and a pompom tail. She had a pet rabbit. It turned out well.
I am definitely going to make a temperature blanket. I am going to be a first time Granny in August so plan to do the baby's first year. I rather like the bag wraithlady but I have so many UFO's to get on with. I haven't been at a complete standstill with crafts this year. I have dabbled but not finished anything. I go to a craft club every week. We have a sale at Christmas so I have made a crochet granny square blanket for that. Not made it up of course, but granny squares are easy to do whilst you are distracted. I have made a hot water bottle cover with some remnants of wadding and a piece of curtain lining on top. I made granny squares to cover it all but still not complete! fabric for a second hot water bottle cover cut out. Bit of a theme here. I also have new sitting room curtains and door curtain cut out. A sashiko quilt is cut out and ready to go. A Noahs Ark cross stitch about 1/3 done!
I promise when I feel a bit better and am not constantly blowing my nose I will make the curtains, then the hot water bottle covers and the blanket.
I hope to only purchase if I need something to finish something off. Hope this makes sense. i feel a bit delirious. Vx:8 -

Pics of the bag as promised - I got bored of the sashiko, also didn't really like the look of the stitches (the ones on the pattern were a lot better) so decided to go with a minimalist approach.
If I make another one, I'll make it wider - I french-seamed the sides and it took up quite a bit of the width. But as my OH said, it's the perfect shape for a couple of bottles of wine and a baguette.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

Interesting technique for the bag @Wraithlady. Did you mount fabrics onto a backing material? Regarding the craft club. I need to attend next entertainments meeting apparently! When asked how often they have them I was told "not often enough!" I asked when next one is and was told "there isnt one yet!, Anyway at Main commitee meeting today I have pushed for one soon so hopefully it will be arranged shortly. A week on Monday looked promising so hopefully we will get it off the ground soon. In the meantime I am sorting out my crafting stash for group classes and a haberdashery sale to raise funds.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,
