2023 - No Craft Spending - I WILL bust my stash and make pretty things!!!!!

Great photos and makes on here.
My Dgs asked if I could make a swag bag for a stage prop - he is dancing to a tune from the film - The Mask. I used a poly cotton fitted sheet from my stash and cut the fabric double to give it some body. Dgs plans to stuff a pillow in the swag bag to represent it being full of stolen money.

Continued from above
I have 1kg of the pink Yarnart cotton acrylic wool pictured front left. That's going to be a long Aran cable jacket with collar and pockets. I've knitted it in navy before and wear it loads in the summer.
Beside that is a navy bamboo and cotton dk yarn. That's going to be a lightweight summer cardigan. I wear lots of denim and that'll go perfectly. I have 700g of that.
The wool above that is leftover wool from other projects. I'm going to use this to knit things for Christmas. Hats for the kids and grandkids. Fingerless gloves for for both daughter in laws. I'll knit these gradually so I'm not rushing trying to finish things on Christmas Eve. It's not the first time I've sat up till midnight finishing Christmas presents.
Happy crafting xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

daisy_1571 said:Got round to making an adjustable tea cosy for when I get a cuppa in a cafe etc. The water cools so quickly and in the past I've used a scarf or a hat if I'm wearing one but have had a plan to make one for a while. Yesterday I had some time, some ideas and then remembered a bit of material I must have got in amongst a bundle as I've looked at it a few times and wondered what on earth I'd ever do with it. Now its mostly used up on the tea cosy and on 2 takeaway cup sleeves. If they ever have the extra cardboard sleeves I find they don't do a great job of keeping the heat away from my hand. I modelled them on a cardboard one but don't want to sew them up the sides till I've measured against a takeaway cup. Not much good if they're too big or too small.
Band goes round the teapot and has ties plus a buttonhole (in the manner of a wraparound skirt) so its adjustable for circumference of different styles. Oblong is weirdly shaped so it just balances on top and covers most of the top of most teapots.
Takeaway cup hand protectors
Hugs to all
Daisy xx
Thats so cute!

Thanks everyone! I know it's not a cross stitch kit (I used to cross stitch in my teens, but fell out of love for it) but I figured the techniques were similar. It's funny because on my kit it very clearly states embroidery on all the paperwork and front of it. Like I said it's a slightly different one I actually have
I'll let you know how I get on!

Hello all
Sorry I have been AWOL from you all for a little bit. Life got a bit hectic.
Still waiting to see the diabetes nurse tomorrow but have had no chocolate or sweets in nearly a fortnight and tried my first fizzy sugar free drink yesterday but I think Ill keep that as a treat.
PCOS playing up so had mother nature visit yesterday and then had to go to the opticians - joy! and my sister rang in a panic on Friday because her PTSD from a previous abusive relationship was triggered by her new boyfriend. Still not 100% sure what happened but seeing her this week so she will no doubt fill me in then.
Meanwhile on the craft front
My robins are coming along lovely although I have found I dont quite have enough thread to finish them and I only have about 12 days left before I need to be finishing and framing it so I am making a conscious effort to get it done. Annoying when you have like 20 stitches of one colour to do but I think I will make myself a box of threads for future projects so Im going to finish them as best I can and then I'll order what I need or take a trip to HC to pick them up.
Going to be baking with the small person at some point today or tomorrow too to make a treat for husband for fathers day - he brought me 600kg of soil to fill my garden beds with as my gifts - we dont do conventional gifts so I thought it was quite funny when I got told a present was coming today to see that big bag arrive and then I got a message saying - figured Id let you grow your own flowers instead of buying them LOL
I do have a few cards to make though as well as a galentines present for my best friend. I got a pack of 5 tumblers with lids and straws to encourage us all to drink more water and be a bit healthier so I am going to personalise hers with her name (its an unusual name and I dont think she has ever had something with her name on) and then get it sent to her for valentines day.
Then March begins and its the worse months for birthdays so I will be off my feet so Im trying to get ahead!
Loving the crafts so far and I hope you are all well. I will catch up properly later!

Love the Robins.
Mr F wore a different jumper when we went out last night and reported to me that there was a hole at the wrist. I darned it as soon as I got home from Church. A stitch in time saves nine.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
