2023 - No Craft Spending - I WILL bust my stash and make pretty things!!!!!

One of the jobs this weekend was to patch the dog walking trousers- soon there will be more patches than trousers! they will be in the rag bin veryu shortly as the main fabric is now rather thin.
Over the past couple of weeks I have made:
5 doggy duvets (off to dog training classes on Weds)
1 pair mittens- sludge green- but from a 25 pence ball of yarn
1 pair of bootees- went slightly wrong on the ridge row: but they match!
3 glasses cases- oddments of upholstery fabric & felt
and as they are all complete I can add them to my list..... I find the sewing up is more tedious that the knitting!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

@Katiehound Glad you were able to follow the pattern. I so agree about sewing up - I have to push myself to sew up my makes or they can lie about for weeks 😳Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order
)

Thanks, yes, followed the pattern but slipped up by one row- didn't check your photo and my ridge is the smooth side of stocking stitch rather than reverse st s. I see what I have done: should have knitted one row after the shaping increases. However they look fine except not quite so good! By the time I discovered the problem I was about to cast off....... the baby won't know!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Soontobeoap, it sounds like you have a magic shelf too – I have one – no matter how much you remove, it never, ever gets any emptier! A few years ago I asked for calligraphy stuff for Christmas and I got a nice selection; it’s sitting waiting for me to get started; I just seem to have so many other things to do! Well done on getting stuck into the ‘Chosen Ones’ and, especially for letting go of the space thieves. I haven’t managed to get to that stage yet. I get ‘the fear’ every time I think about it. Oh do explain what diamond painting is – my imagination is telling me you’re an infamous jewel thief and this is how you hide the spoils!
I hope you’re feeling better. plumduff55. You remind me of my Mum. She was forever stealing ideas from hings she had or had seen to create something of her own. I cannot remember her ever using a pattern; she just chose the woo/fabricl and started. She didn’t seem to mind if something didn’t work out, she’d just rip it back/unstitch it and start again! Patience of a saint. She was also into upcycling before it was fashionable – she’d periodically rip out a jumper and redo it in another style “for a wee change”. I’ve just com across your Christmas quilting; there really is no end to your talents! What cute wee baby boots (I’ve saved the pattern, thanks) - and a very pretty quilt. And now I’ve come across your puch and bonnet – more lovely work!
sammy_kaye18, thanks for the help re photos. Mine are all on the computer, so I’m partway there already. You may come to regret your advice! I feel your pain re naughty dogs.
Lovely choice of colours for your case, old_fogey,
Hello, x_raphael_xx, come on in, the water’s lovely – and nobody bites! I’ve been workinh on a tapestry for a few years now – I don’t think I did any at all last year, I’m at a boring bit, that’s my excuse.
Thanks, flipflopflo, for advice re uploading pictures. I’ve never tried using my smartphone. Of course, now I’ve moved all my pics to computer (to prevent phone getting clogged up) …. BTW, I love your cushion – and the quotation! I may have to steal your idea,
Well done, emsi_b, for trying something new. Now, I wonder why ‘mum’ and ‘notes’ would be in your plans …….
I really like your dress, Stashbuster, beautiful fabric.
Lovely runner, daisy_1571, Those Christmas trees are indeed for using with a cricut – or most die cutting machines. Like kiss_me_now9, I have a cuttlebug, but I also have an electric die cutter and that reall saves all that handle turning – think starting a an old fashioned car with a starting handle, except you have to keep turning, lol. I’ve used both machines to cut fabric; it’s possible to do a few layers at once, unless it’s a very thin die. I think some sizzix dies may be too thick for some machines.
katieshound, great idea to put the bags in the shoeboxes. Last time I made a bunch of bags (also Morsbags and also from curtain material - my mothers, and she passed away in 1991, so now you all know why I have a stash problem -I put them in with donations to a foodbank. I cannot imagine a sardine flapjack!
RavenRover, you NEED that crocheted elephant head – and I need to see it, so get a jildy on; no excuses now you’ve told us about it,
Cupcakecraftscuddlycanine, thanks for sharing pics of your card roses, they are amazing ans such an original idea. Well done.
Well, I’ve reached page 20 and there are 28 showing , so I’ll stop reading for now. I’ll try to upload something and try to catch up on more news tomorrow. I’ve finished a few things, but not a lot.

Woo Hoo - it worked.
This isn't one of my this year's projects. I chose it because I use a cutting die to make the flowers leaves and butterflies. There are a few different layers to the flowers, including the tiny star centres. The leaves have 2 pieces each They leaves and the little star would be a pain to cut by hand - and the leaf centres would likely never fit neatly together. I designed this as a wall hanging, but I wanted it to be a bit 3 dimensional, which is why the petals, leaves and the butterflies have curled up a bit. I sewed randomly over the pieces to attach them to the background. Only on line of stitching holds the butterflies because I wanted them to 'flutter', In true stashbusting fashion, the fabrics and wadding were all scraps from other projects. BTW, the sides are straight - but the stitching is definitely not even. There are extra creases now as it is no longer a wall hanging - it's protecting the back of my husband's chair form his oily head, ie it;s become a kind of antimacassar .

Thanks all!
We spent the weekend making Leis for our welcome party-only 40-but it took two days of me, my partner and my mum cutting tissue flowers, rolling peices of paper into tube beads, gluing them then threading them all together 😂
I thought it would be a good way to save money as we had tissue paper and scrap white paper but wow did I miss guess how long it would take!! 🙃5 -

i am meant to be getting the robins done for the 26th but haven't touched it in two nights and I am very aware that there is a whole bird practically to do and if I don't get it nearly finished then I will have no time to get the colours I need to complete it and get it framed in time so I had better get on it.
I may have a morning sorting the house tomorrow and then dedicate all of tomorrow afternoon to getting it done!
@emsi_b love the magnets and well done on the calligraphy!
Time to find me again6
