Apparently the research contradicts the idea of a moon connection. But there must be something making people believe it. It's not like most of us notice the phase of the moon most of the time.

This is a fascinating conversation. Makes me think of the old phrase 'felt it in my waters', and if brains are like 75% water and the moon influences tides, maybe there is a tug that we don't have the science available yet to study. Or I might be chatting nonsense, but it's certainly interesting to ponder upon

There’s definitely something in it. It’s every time there’s a full moon in Mr SA’s case. Especially interesting when psychiatrist nurses are seeing it in patients.

It seems to be fairly well recognised. DH works with the public and when the staff team have a difficult day, they sometimes check what phase of the moon it is. My Mum used to say the cats went scatty around the full moon, and a primary school teacher said the children were all more restless. Someone who worked in South America mentioned that culture linked behaviour and phases of the moon, too. I heard tell it could be linked with the fact we are a large percent water and the moon pulls the tides.

In my line of work after a full moon our work load is always greater like your DH.

I've often seen the full moon thing at work too. Sometimes there are a few days where things are more busy than usual, but weirder too, and I'll think 'what is going on?' then I check and it's often a full moon or a day or two before.
There's also sometimes a link with weird dreams and hormones.
I know 'science' says there's no link, but 20 years of experience suggests otherwise to me.

AI suggested to me that rather than 'no link', there's no proven correlation, or words to that effect. Sometimes with these things it seems to be about how we ask the question, so if you search for 'scientific link' you may get 'no way', whereas if you want 'full moon and behaviour' you might get the answer I had. (I don't remember my exact words, sorry). It's fascinating that a link is perceived, but that doesn't constitute proof - though perhaps it's a reason to phrase the question in many ways and see what comes up.

Are you keeping a chart of Mr SA's behaviours, SA? And for fairness sake, how tolerant or otherwise you feel? :) This from the woman who said 'Thankfully I don't get PMT', and DH immediately put me right! (We both survived the episode).

@Sun_Addict it's entirely your decision but might it be worth exploring what help social services can give you? If crisis point (and if I'm reading correctly, that may not be too far off) is reached before an intervention, it will be far worse for all concerned.  Love Humdinger xx

@Cherryfudge that would be worth keeping a note of to see if a pattern emerges. For myself it seems to be around the time I feel optimistic and getting things sorted he starts playing up. A lot of this will be he was quite controlling prior to his brain tumour and he’ll hate the loss of control.

@Humdinger1 I was given a list of contacts should I need them. I’ve already been given the option of respite care should I need it. Social services are so stretched that whether anything would actually happen is another matter. If you are perceived by them as coping they really aren’t bothered. I used to have a carers assessment once a year over the phone but this service has gone now.
