We have quite a few handymen on our local FB groups. I’ve used a couple of recommended ones on the past. As it happens my friend’s hubby is setting up as one in the new year when he retires.IzzyBee said:SA I don’t know about where you live but here we have people who will do odd jobs cutting grass small fixing jobs cleaning gutters etc could you get someone who would come and empty your loft and take away any rubbish for you might be worth asking on the local Facebook groupI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4 -
Just remember to be careful if you ask someone to dispose of rubbish as they need to have the appropriate licences and you don't want to end up finding it all fly tipped and traceable back to you!3

There have been a few reports of this recently locally. If I was paying a handyman to clear the loft I’d hire a skip to be on the safe side.greenbee said:Just remember to be careful if you ask someone to dispose of rubbish as they need to have the appropriate licences and you don't want to end up finding it all fly tipped and traceable back to you!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3 -
Afternoon all.Have had a very busy day.Got up early for my 6am Mr M delivery. Finished Christmas themed book number one and have started number two.Did a live yoga and meditation session at 7.30 followed by Rick’s advent challenge day 3.By this time Mr SA was still asleep despite knowing we needed to set off early for the city centre. There was a method in his madness as I twigged he was stalling so he could go to the charity shop for the jacket he’d been talking about all the previous night. So we were an hour later than I wanted heading off. We stopped off at the CS for the jacket and oh my days it was awful. Really battered and the buttons were hanging off. Thankfully it was too small for him. You could see the disappointment on his face. Of course he was then on a mission for a new coat as he hadn’t dressed for the cold expecting to be wearing the CS jacket. So the minute we hit the city centre it was mission buy a coat. He saw one he loved in Primani for £48 that fitted so he bought it.
This left us less than 30 minutes until his eye test. I told him we didn’t have time for coffee first but he insisted so I asked for takeaway cups. I settled him in a seat with the bags while I queued but he had a sudden urge to use the toilet so abandoned the table, the shopping and his keys. Thankfully there was no one untoward about. By the time I got served we had less than 10 minutes until his appointment. We took our drinks with us and he was going to throw his in the bin almost full because he’d had enough! I wouldn’t let him throw it away despite getting it free because I had two full stamp cards. His eye test went well although they managed to talk him into buying eye drops for his permanently sore eyes. He gets free glasses, I wouldn’t let them persuade him to have thinned lenses at an extra cost because he either doesn’t wear them or loses them.He wanted to go straight home after that so the notion of going for a festive lunch went out of the window. We had only just arrived home when the blinds company rang on the off chance they could measure up early so I said yes. The blind is being fitted 22 December which will give me time to paint the room.Today’s exercise has been Yoga, the Rick advent challenge, walking to/from town and Zumba at 6pm. I’ll be glad to put my feet up tonight that’s for sure.Tonight’s dinner is leftover butternut squash dhal.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
Just come up in my FB memories it’s 12 years today since Mr SA was given the all clear after a 9 months battle for his life with Lymphoma in his brain. Some of you will remember my old diary when it was looking very bleak for him a few months prior to that.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8

That was a very busy day, well done on keeping your temper throughout the various phases of it!
And well done on the last 12 years, I know there's not a huge amount of choice other than enormous drama or get on with it, but I hope you remember that we recognise that you are an absolute superstar

Yes, we are building you a podium @Sun_Addict. Every time we think it's tall enough, we realise that a whole new level is needed to begin to express our admiration of what you do. We'll have to stop soon as it's getting near to the sun...7

Not everyone would have managed the last 12years as you have. You really are amazing. Just caring for someone is hard enough, but to keep the house together, manage finances, work full time, plan holidays, have time for meet ups with friends & still manage over 20k steps a day is just beyond amazing.
