Good job Mr SA wasn’t on the shed floor too long. It’s not as cold as it has been but it’s still not warm enough to be lying on the floor for long periods.January spends - £587.581

I was going to say 'poor Mr SA' then read the 'why haven't you decorated yet' comment 😐
He's really testing the 'put the whole man in the skip' meme isn't he
Well done you for sorting out Mr SA, and the shed, and all your other usual productive brilliance.
Don't push yourself unnecessarily if you're twinging, no point doing yourself a damage that'll last for months or years for the sake of 'completing your list' for a few days2 -
Forgot to say I’m doing two advent challenges. One is a reverse advent calendar so from tomorrow until I break up for Christmas I’ll be donating an item to the food bank my workplace supports every day. I’ll also be doing the Get Fit With Rick advent challenge of 24 workouts in 24 days 🎄

I'm sorry to hear about Mr SA's fall and the pressure on your back. I'll go further than the others and say 'twinging or not, go easy for a few days'. Do you have to move the furniture yourself? Could your daughter help or do it for you? I'm concerned that it might take a little while to stabilise your back if there's some small amount of swelling or you are having to tense up to stop it hurting.
Good that you are getting things into the skip though!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Morning all, happy December 🎄
WFH today, thank goodness or I would've got soaked.
Thankfully my back is fine today no damage done after yesterday's shenanigans. Mr SA has a nasty bruise and is sore.
Finally got around to doing the payday shuffle. CC balance has been cleared, the regular savers have been topped up and the Christmas 2026 pot has received enough oddments to get it to my target of £50 for this month. Sinking funds pots have been added to.
The best news of all is the final overpayment has gone to the mortgage which means next month will be just paying off the remaining balance of around £80 🎉
The builder arrived an hour ago so he's cracking on with the loft.
Not sure if we'll get out with the dog this morning as she doesn't do rain and neither does Mr SA.
Today's exercise plan is day 1 of Get Fit With Rick advent challenge at lunchtime (24 workouts in 24 days), aerobics at 6pm and strength training at 7.15. Aiming for a minimum of 10,000 steps today.
I'm doing a reverse advent calendar challenge for the foodbank we support at work. So every day between now and when I break up for Christmas on 19 December I'm donating an item to the food bank. I pop things in there regularly anyway but work is having a bit of a push in the lead up to Christmas.
So the food bank and Rick's advent are my December challenges. As is my push to get down freezer/cupboard contents as much as possible.
Tonight's dinner is butternut squash dhal.
I'm planning to order the paint for my office today so it won't be a NSD.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6 -
I've ordered the paint and associated paraphernalia needed to decorate my office. I bought a gift card via work, it's only saved me 5% but better than nothing. I also went via TCB and got 5% cashback. It all adds up. Free delivery too as I spent over £75. On the same order I've also bought a small real Christmas tree to go outside on the patio as the conifer tree in a tub we've had for years and decorated up at Christmas sadly died earlier in the year.
I still haven't got around to replacing the dishwasher. At the moment it seems to be running ok so the need isn't so urgent. It must've heard me talking about replacing it 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8 -
The loft hatch and ladders are done, the builder just needs to finish off the architrave when he comes back to do the window tomorrow. He said the loft is full of stuff scattered all over, also lots of old pipes left by workmen from when we had the new central heating, kitchen and bathroom done a few years ago. So it's not the straightforward job I thought it was. He said he'd be tempted just to stick what I need to up there and forget about trying to clear it. Whatever I decide to do he says it will take 2 people, one up there to throw things down and another to catch them. I might try chipping away at it now and again, maybe rope DS in to help out. Of course Mr SA wanted to go up the ladders and have a look, I had to stop him and remind him he fell in the shed yesterday and there's no way I could get him up if he fell in the loft. He's so stubborn though and said I'd forgotten he's used to going in lofts from his days as a roofer. Had to remind him things have changed a lot since those days. When he's on his own in the house I'm going to make sure the pole that opens the hatch is well hidden just so he's not tempted - I don't think he will be when he's on his own but you never know.
I need to move the furniture away from the window area for tomorrow so he's got a clear area to work in. I'm thinking about having a change of layout anyway once the work is finished so this could be an opportunity to try it out.
I'll need to move my work stuff downstairs, I don't think I'll be able to do much with just the one laptop screen so will set everything up on the dining table. It will be a bit of a faff because of all the wires but needs must.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
