Morning all
WFH today thank goodness. The office was packed to the rafters yesterday and Mondays are usually fairly quiet. It's getting to the stage where if you arrive after 9 you'd be spending your first half hour trying to find a free desk! We've been asked to try and stagger our days in the office as if everyone turned up on the same day security would have to start turning people away once the building reached capacity. Thankfully that's not happened yet.
Mr M delivery arrived before 7 so is all packed away. The usual fight with the main freezer as I'm trying to run down the small freezer so I can defrost it so refuse to put anything else in it.
Today's exercise plan is dog walking later this morning, a lunchtime live Power Punch class and Resistance Bands tonight.
Trying a new recipe for tonight's dinner Sticky Tofu and Mushroom Rice Bowl, a recipe from the Mr T magazine. This will use up a portion of tofu from the freezer and some mushrooms, peppers and coriander that need using up.
DD is at work today so another chance to get cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, have to take these opportunities when I can 😆
I need to drop off a bag of coffee pods for recycling at a local shop and on the way post a letter put through our door even though it quite clearly is for an address further down the road.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)10 -
The traffic on the roads was terrible this morning. I think more people are starting to work in the office again on Tuesdays.
Mondays and Fridays are usually a lot quieter on the roads.4 -
@Sun_Addict, the office situation sounds incredibly inefficient. We have a booking system which usually works ok as certain desks are assigned to certain teams but tues-thurs is always busy and there aren’t nearly enough desks to cover everyone who is going into the office, (the company didn’t renew some of our offices so now limited space). I WFH the majority of the time but have to be in tomorrow and as soon as I got the invite I checked the booking system… no desks available 😂. I’ll check again later in case anyone has a change of mind. You’re plan for the day looks productive, have a good one xMortgage (MFD 04/2053) (Jan 25) £238,983.71. Overpayment set to £200 per month. Had the same problem before I recently retired. We moved to a new building a couple of years ago and because since COVID everyone is now allowed to wfh 2 days a week (previously only certain people were allowed - managers mainly) they reduced the amount of floor spaced leased. Each workgroup has a designated group of desks - our group had 6 seats allocated to us but we had 18 in our team. If you got to work after 8.30 you had to wander the floor looking for a spare desk - no booking system.4

Today is not going to plan. The WiFi repeater I only bought in October for my home office has decided to stop working. I've tried resetting it and also the main router but it's still not working. Fortunately my work laptop is connecting well to the main router downstairs but my phone and iPad are dipping in and out. I also use my home office to do my online exercise sessions hence the repeater. Such a shame as it was a really good repeater until today. Not sure if I'll be able to return it, it should've lasted longer than 3 months.
Then I logged onto Podback to get the QR code to recycle the coffee pods and my local shop is no longer on the list. The nearest recycling point is over 7 miles away. As I don't have a car it looks like the pods will have to go into landfill. I get so annoyed that you're encouraged to recycle and then struggle to find anywhere where you can actually do it. I'd been collecting Mr SA's tablet blister packs for ages so I could recycle them at B00ts only to find the branch in the city centre doesn't accept them and I can't find anywhere else locally that does. Our nearest council recycling centre is over 10 miles away, having moved from locally, so I can't even take anything there!
Took the misdelivered letter to the correct house and no wonder the postie fobbed it off with us, their letterbox is as stiff as hell. I thought it was going to trap my hand so left it on the doorstep. This has happened before when letters have been put through our door not for us and when I take them to the intended address the house has access issues.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
I save the tablet blister packs and recycle them through a Super Drug pharmacy but they are few and far between.2

With our wifi booster the phone/laptop sometimes often needs to be manually switched as its still trying to pick up the hub if the device has been nearer that, have you checked your wifi settings on phone and ipad are definitely switched back to booster?
How frustrating about the recycling. I really think it should be law that a place can't sell something unless they offer to recycle it too
Very cheeky of the postie!3 -

I can't find out how to return the faulty booster, thankfully it didn't cost much, so have ordered a better one.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
3 months is no time at all. I know modern stuff has a very short life but not even a year is pathetic. Can you go online to whoever you bought it from & give say how bad it is (as it deserves)

What a frustrating day for you. The only things I can suggest are both via social media: if you message the booster company on FB you are quite likely to get the information you need. Worth a try if it gets you a refund?
For the coffee pods, is there one of the freecycle/Olio type groups you could contact, as there may be someone collecting the pods who would be willing to take yours for the sake of the environment? I also wonder if there's a scheme somewhere that collects them to raise money for charity. I hate things going in landfill but at the end of the day there's only so much you can do if facilities are withdrawn.
(A further thought: could your work sponsor a collecting point? They seem to have some good thoughts in other areas. My workplace hosted a bra bank which is nothing to do with the business but a constructive thing to do).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
