Thank you all. I love the idea of a coffee shop gift card. We have several coffee shops in the vicinity of the office so even if the recipient doesn’t drink coffee they could get tea or a cake or something.Of course it would be a lot easier if we were doing the secret Santa the normal way where you know who you’re buying for.I still have to get a small birthday gift for a friend I’m seeing on Tuesday but hoping to see something nice at the Christmas market tomorrow.Just about to put a colour on my hair, then it’s ClubFit, dog walking and the Mr T trip. Got two more bags to drop off at the charity shop on the way.Jack D is on offer at £23 for a litre so will pick one up for DS’s Christmas present. I ordered a gilet for Mr SA yesterday as the outdoor shop in town didn’t have his size so that’s another thing got for him. I just need to get another small thing to add to DD’s present then that’s the presents all done. I’m thinking of getting DD one of those plants with the little pineapple on top. She had one last year but Mr SA broke the pineapple off the top and she was devastated! They’ve got them in Lid! in a lovely pot for £9.99.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

I’d echo the thoughts of others about not buying a scratchcard for an unknown (at this point) recipient - and to be honest the same is true of anything alcoholic too. The idea of not giving the names out until the day seems pretty guaranteed to end up with a lot of tat being bought mind you, far easier when you can tailor it to something you know someone might find useful!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I've never heard of a Secret Santa so secret that you don't know who you're buying for.
Not the best idea needing to be so 'neutral' it suits everyone instead of so 'nice' for just one
My suggestions probably a bit weak but what about a reed diffuser or candle - I'm sure they have them around £5 in the supermarkets?

I always thought secret Santas were a great idea but a secret one that even the buyer doesn't know sounds like my definition of a nightmare & I do not envy you this at all. Are all the recipients female?

So thankful that we live in a sheltered area not prone to extremes of weather after hearing about the power cuts due to the storm. I had to remove the basket bit of my hanging chair and put it in the shed as it had blown over but as yet nothing worse. The remaining part of the chair structure blew over but have left it there on its side as it’s probably safer at the moment. The only other downside is that the wind has blown a lot of blossom off the tree on the patio that only blossoms in the winter. It’s always windy where we live due to us being so high up with no wind break so not much difference to be honest.Picked up a bottle of JD for DS in Mr T and made sure I hid it well from Mr SA. He randomly started going on about JD and how he wants a bottle for Christmas. Reminded him he’s not allowed to drink spirits and that it’s me who has to pick up the pieces if he has too much alcohol. I don’t even want to think of the consequences if he got his hands on a bottle of JD 🫣
Made an aubergine and chickpea curry for my dinner tonight. Mr SA has decided to only eat toddler food such as pizza and fish fingers so had pizza. Apparently if he eats healthy food cooked from scratch with lots of veg it upsets his stomach but if he eats processed food it’s ok 😐
Really pleased with my newly created office. Not only is it a lovely warm place to WFH it’s also a great place to do my exercise sessions. I can have my disco lights on without worrying about setting off DD’s epilepsy and there’s plenty of room to move. Should’ve sorted this room out sooner.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7 -
Glad you're not being badly affected by the storm.
Maybe wrap the JD as an extra deterrent in case Mr SA finds it?
So pleased you've carved out a nice space for you.
Would a futon fit in case of any of Mr SA's middle of the night telly volume habits?2 -
Veg = fibre so although I suspect it’s not the reason MrSA has decided he wants to eat processed foods, he might not be far off the mark with the tie-in with stomach problems!Fantastic that your new space is suiting you so brilliantly - as you say what a shame you didn’t do it sooner. On the other hand, having had more time to think about it probably means it’s even more “just right”!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Morning all.Just been out to the bin and it’s fair to say it’s a tad wet and windy out there! The dog has stolen my reading spot on the dining room sofa so I’m perched precariously (and not very comfortably) on the edge.Going to a Christmas craft fair at a local leisure centre this afternoon, thankfully indoors. Sounds like a huge event so should be good. Mr SA can’t make his mind up whether he wants to go or not. It will probably be very busy so he won’t be able to go round it on his scooter. It does have a bar though and he’s liking the thought of sitting with a pint while I look around the stalls 😆
Other plans for today are dog walking, GFWR day 8, meal planning, dusting/vacuuming, Spanish and surveys. Also need to remove the gel polish from my nails ready for a new colour on Thursday. Really pleased that the gel has lasted almost 4 weeks and only just started to lift.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3 -
