I don’t do Christmas crackers but give everyone a scratch card instead. So, yes a good idea.

Another idea is a bottle of Prosecco as most people like it and Mr M have a good offer on at the moment 🤔

I wish it was being done the normal way where you draw out a name to buy for 😐

Depends whether you suspect anyone you work with has a gambling problem! And whether you'll be annoyed if they win £25 if you've bought the ticket 😁
Maybe a £5 M&S or Sainsers voucher would be a good shout, then they can put it towards something they like, and if they're secretly struggling like so many people, it might be a blessed relief to them to be able to buy some food or a wee gift for someone else for Christmas
Thank you I thought about a gift card. As far as I know none of them have a gambling problem and I don’t think any of them are struggling but then you never know.

I remember one year we did a secret Santa and one lucky recipient received a beautiful Christmas bauble. Everyone was very envious. I’m going to a local Christmas market on Sunday so might see if there’s anything nice there otherwise it may well be a gift card. Gambling doesn’t sit well with me to be honest. My mom was dead against it so it’s been instilled in me from an early age.

I think a gift voucher is a great idea. Perhaps one for a coffee shop?

  • I think a gift card is much better,in case they don't approve of gambling. I mean I would love a scratch card, but I think you need to know the recipient well to be able to give one safely.

  • Aye, as we know from these here mse boards, you never know! And for those not struggling, an extra fiver towards something someone's fancying is always pleasing

A beautiful bauble sounds lovely and thoughtful, and a nice way to support an independent business too

I enjoy an occasional lottery ticket as Mr PIP and I get a good hour of entertainment from our 'financial planning', which isn't bad for £2.50 for two adults!
I've included a £1 scratchcard in his stocking as part of our £10 stocking challenge, but would be very wary of getting one for someone I wasn't sure didn't have any issues with it, whether addiction, religion, or like you just being brought up to feel uncomfortable with it

I don't think I'd want a scratchcard in a Secret Santa type thing. Great if it's a winner, but if not, I just have a small piece of useless card & the giver has also kind of wasted their money. A few quid on a coffee shop gift card is a great idea.....or maybe Waitbl00m for the recipient to treat themselves to a nice bar of choc or bag of coffee.
