Re the northern lights, most of the time it’s not visible to the naked eye in the UK, but if you take a photo of the night sky it shows up on the photo. My DS rang me last night complaining he couldn’t see anything, advised him what to do and he then sent me 4 lovely photos of the northern lights, but I tried it where I live and nothing.

There were some amazing photos of the Northern Lights on the local FB groups.

Oh my days I’m absolutely shattered! Only just managed to sit down from this morning. Took the trolley back to Lid! and got a refund. Then did some shopping. Took advantage of the offer on microwave rice and Mr SA’s lip balm so got a really good stock in now.

Took forever to clear and clean the spare room, only just finished. The treadmill was a nightmare to dismantle, eventually managed to break it down into manageable pieces to go in the skip. It wasn’t good enough to advertise and far too heavy to move in one piece. The scrapman might be able to make use of the metal bits though.

DD took her carpet up and that was a faff manhandling downstairs and into the skip.

Then I had a brainwave - why couldn’t DD move into the spare room until her room is done. So we’ve managed to get her bed and computer desk in there. Once the work starts on Monday we can move the rest of her things in there temporarily during the day. It’s not really big enough for everything when she’s in it.

On Sunday I’m going to start moving the dining room furniture into the living room. It’ll be a tight squeeze but it’s only for a few days and at least Mr SA will still have his precious TV.

A few bits from the spare room have had to go in our room temporarily.

The flooring man came once the carpet was up and the good news is it doesn’t need boarding over so won’t be as expensive as first thought.

Still waiting for the electrician but he rang to say he’s on his way.

As the weather has been gorgeous got plenty of washing dry. There will be space for a tumble dryer in the spare room even when I move my desk in there. Now the treadmill and bike have gone it’s surprising how much space there is.

I’ll sleep well tonight that’s for sure. Looking forward to a long soak in the bath when the electrician has gone.

Just before I got to today's post, I was going to suggest moving DD into the spare room just until her room is fully finished. Great minds!

Have you stashed away Mr SA's lip salve in preparation for a pester?

I was very saddened to read that the Reviltalise respite place in Southport, Merseyside, will close from November due to financial struggles. It's one of the only places that offers respite holidays and gets NO government funding! Shameful.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

The electrician fixed the lights - in a fashion. Because the ceiling he needs to get to is lats it’s a massive messy job to get to the wiring so he’s wired them via the plug socket in the living room. This means unfortunately there’s a wire running from there to the light switch. It’s not ideal but it’s the only way it can be fixed without taking the ceiling down. Anyway both lights are now working again which is great. I can get a cable cover for the wire so it won’t look as obvious. It keeps catching my eye at the moment but I’m sure I’ll soon stop noticing it.

While I was enjoying a much needed soak in the bath, unknown to me Mr SA had removed the clips holding the cable and tried to rearrange the whole thing. To say it looked a bu$$er was an understatement! Plus he’d managed to make a hole in the wall and chipped the paintwork 😞

So I had to redo it all back to how it was before and now I need to patch up the paintwork 😐

A local bus service has had its route diverted temporarily so it’s coming down our road at the moment. The road isn’t really wide enough for a bus so it’s causing chaos. Plus it keeps stopping outside our house and people are looking in at Mr SA watching TV 🤣 Luckily it’s only a single decker but we’ve had to close the curtains. Seems really weird as we’re not used to seeing buses pass by.

I’ve had a message from the builder and he’s starting DD’s room on Tuesday not Monday so we have another day’s grace to finish sorting the dining room. I think DD’s wardrobes will only taking him a day as he’s starting on the dining room on Wednesday.

One good thing is that this means I can go into the office on Monday.

    For a rest?

You must be exhausted! He sounds like a good builder though.

Hate it when doing projects in the house that seem to take over the whole house. I like neat and tidy but sometimes stuff is having to be moved into other rooms and dust, yak.
