  • I found people taking stuff out of my skip all the time! It certainly helped get more stuff in.

Not sure how we would manage the laundry without our dryer at this time of year!!

It has been a god send this week with the post holiday catch up washes.

We do have stuff that doesn't go in the dryer but that usually gets hung up in the spare bathroom with the extractor fan on and the window open. Fortunately that room is very warm so it doesn't usually take long to get stuff dry.

I hate having wet clothing hanging around though. I feel your pain.

We don't have room for a separate washer and dryer so had to get a combined unit but this one, which was a bit more expensive than our old one, seems to be a lot more reliable (reaches around to touch some wood now)

DS has just sent me photos of the Northern Lights from his window. I can see a white streak from mine but not the beautiful colours he can see. He lives just over 20 miles north of us.

I think you deserved that Zumba.

We have a faint aurora here but various friends and family are getting beautiful photos, including from bigger conurbations where I would have thought the background light was too strong. DS2 has been out there getting lovely shots for an hour. (He must be freezing).

    Morning, happy Friday.

Woke up with a start about 4-ish as I thought I heard a clang that sounded like someone dropping something into a skip. Remembered our skip and shot out of bed - no one there, obviously imagining things 😆 They put the skip behind the wall at the front rather than block the driveway so no one can see it when the gates are closed. I’m getting paranoid.

    So plans for today are:

    1. Pop down to Lid! to return the trolley and pick a few things up.

    2. Electrician is coming between 10 and 2 to hopefully fix the living room ceiling light. He needs to get the floorboards up in a corner of DD’s room. I haven’t told her because she’d moan. So going to pretend I don’t know.

    3. Clear out the spare room, give it a good clean and move my work desk into there.

If I have time after that, I’ll make a start on packing my books away so I can move the bookshelves. Tomorrow will be all about clearing as much of the dining room away that I can. No idea where it’s all going to go!

Today’s exercise will be lots of walking and lifting.

Tonight’s dinner is Mediterranean cod using up freezer stocks of fish and Mediterranean veg.

  • Good luck with moving & cleaning.
