You did exceptionally well to have got to the event, your work obviously takes notice of how much you do.
And you got a free trip to London, and new trousers, both nice extra 'takeaways'.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Morning all.
WFH today thank goodness as I'm absolutely shattered. Didn't get back home until 9pm as my train was delayed and the earlier train before that was cancelled so double the amount of passengers were getting on and lots of people standing.
Well I managed to go to London for the day and the only spends were on a meal deal to eat on the train on the way back (which I can claim back on expenses) and £2 bus fare back home. I didn't have time to go in any shops or even a cafe. I did however see Downing Street, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and several other famous landmarks on my walk from the train station to Westminster. I was nervous of straying too far from the venue in case I got lost and arrived late. Everywhere was heaving with tourists taking photos of everything.
It was a nice day out and I bumped into someone I used to work with who I've stayed friends with so I sat with her. I met lots of nice people. It's a shame I didn't win but I was up against 8 other people and some of them had set up charities and done all kinds of good work. All of the finalists had done well to get so far as there were almost 500 nominations.
I've got another chance next month as I'm a finalist in some other awards, I won't be travelling to this one as it's much further away.
Unfortunately I didn't have a great night's sleep Tuesday night and was awake from 1.30am. Combination of being nervous about travelling alone to London and finding my way to the venue, thinking about the forthcoming home improvements and worrying about DD. This meant I was really tired and really didn't feel like travelling. It's done now and I'm glad I went but it's fair to say I won't do it again.
DD is still in hospital. The good news is that the aneurysm has completely healed so the blood she brought up isn't that. When I spoke to her yesterday she was waiting to have a camera down her throat. I think if all goes well she should be back home today.
Mr SA survived his day alone but didn't eat the soup I left him for his lunch as he couldn't be bothered to open up a ring pull can, put it in a bowl and microwave it. So he had cheese rolls and crisps. I left him a ham salad with a pork pie in the fridge for his dinner which he ate. I suspect he may have grazed on it during the day though.
The painter came to do the quote. I wrote a list of what needs doing for Mr SA to show him. He was going to liaise with the builder about timescales so I'm hoping to get a price shortly.
Today's exercise is dog walking later this morning, Yogilates at lunchtime and Zumba tonight. I did just over 29,000 steps yesterday so my feet are feeling it this morning.
Tonight's dinner will probably be stir fry as I've got loads of veg to use up.
I think I'm getting to the stage where I need a new phone. It's not updating to the latest IOS and some of my apps are starting to ask for it plus the battery doesn't last very long before it's drained. It's really old though so can't complain, I've definitely had my money's worth.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
Sorry you didn't win, and glad DD is hopefully coming home.
Could you have a siesta this afternoon when Mr SA does? XSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

You must be absolutely wiped out! Nice to have met your friend though, and a day to yourself. And that's good about DD's healed aneurysm: I hope they find where the current problem is and let her out soon.
My phone (Iphone 7) is doing the same as yours and I'm thinking of looking out in the black Friday sales.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Try backmarket for the phone maybe? I suspect I will head there when mine next needs replacing!
Glad you had a good day out yesterday. AS for DD it's great that the aneurysm - here's hoping they get to the bottom of what caused her scary issues the other day though!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks all.
No chance of getting a siesta @Willowtree222 I'm too busy with work. I can't sleep during the day anyway. I had a good night's sleep last night and plan to have an early night tonight.
Thanks for the tip @EssexHebridean, I've never of heard of back market but will take a look.
In money news £5 lotto winnings have been sent to the Christmas pot. Plus an oddment of £6.40. It will soon be time to wind that pot up and start picking up Christmas presents and other bits. I usually stop when it hits £600 then start up the following year's.
£200 has been sent to the 6 months regular saver that is earmarked to pay off the April holiday balance. Already at the halfway mark.
Another £100 overpayment has been sent to the mortgage. It will be under £5k next month. I've shaved a good year off the repayment date by doing this so it's been very worthwhile.
Transferred the money for the dog's Onsior prescription from the vet plus the purchase of said tablets online from the vet pot to the current account.
CC balance has been checked and paid off.
I'm going to ring DD after my next work meeting. She'll hopefully have a better idea of what's happening.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8 -
Another here sorry you didn't win but it sounds like you met some nice people at the event.Fingers crossed that DD will have some news on what's happening.Isn't it strange though how Mr SA can't be bothered to open a ring pull soup can but can open his cans of beer with no prob!😉Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
