Scooter breakdown is a nightmare, but good service from the shop.

The builder came and has taken measurements and noted what needs doing. He said he’s very busy and it might be a couple of months before he can get it done but will get the quote back within the next couple of days. I’m not in a rush as waiting for the regular savers to mature to fund the renovations. DD is really enthusiastic about her new bedroom and I’ve never seen her room so clean and tidy. The change in her since her health scare is amazing, she’s a different person.Popped into Lid! on the way home from work as needed some ham for Mr SA’s lunches. His very boring lunches of cheese and ham rolls every blooming day 😬 His choice though, he even has it for lunch when we’re on holiday. Picked up the free seeded sourdough loaf while I was there.Managed to get home from work and get the washing in before the heavens opened. The heating has kicked in tonight it’s that cold. Not ready for this yet. The wind has destroyed the little windmill I bought in Spring, already repaired it a few times. The wind is brutal where we live as it’s so high up and there’s nothing at the back of us to break it. It’s great for drying washing though 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

Aw, that's a shame about the windmill. I remember you mentioning it back in the day.
That sounds very positive about your daughter.
My friend and I were talking about possibly putting our respective heatings on, only yesterday. She's only just put the duvet back in its cover (been using just the cover) so she might hold out longer than we will, but I'm okay while I keep moving.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. At least if MrSA always has the same thing for lunch it is one less thing you actually need to think about & that has got to be a good thing.

Morning all.
WFH today. Didn't wake up until after 6 so it's just as well.
The heating has kicked in again this morning, it's set to come on if the temperature dips below 18. There are blue skies and sunshine outside so hopefully it will warm up.
Mr SA was very challenging again last night. He's become very argumentative just lately. I think last night it stemmed from when the builder came to do the quotes and he stuck his oar in and said he wanted UPVC skirting boards in the dining room. He asked the same builder for this when we have the bedroom and living rooms refurbished and yet again he was told they are only for kitchens and bathrooms and are a devil to stick to the wall as you can't drill into them like wooden ones. You could see Mr SA wasn't too happy about being pushed back with his idea. I really hope this isn't the start of the pre brain damage Mr SA coming back, he seemed to lose this streak but I've recently noticed it creeping back now and again.
Not very MSE but I'm thinking about getting a tumble drier to use for emergencies in the winter. Mr SA gets through so many clothes I'm struggling to get things dry as all his clothes are big, thick and heavy. I have a heated airer and dehumidifier but it takes a while for the heavier things and bedding to dry. It would have to be a condenser one to be kept in the spare room as I have no room for it elsewhere. When we had the kitchen done I had an extra cupboard as we got rid of the old tumble drier. Something for me to consider anyway. I'm trying to make my life easier where I can.
Today's exercise is dog walking later this morning, stretch & tone at lunchtime and Zumba at 5.30.
Tonight's dinner is root veg bake and veggie sausages leftover from Tuesday. Need something I can heat and eat quickly as Zumba finishes at 6.15 and the park volunteers meeting is at 6.30.
Spending wise it will just be the cost of a drink at the pub where the meeting is. No other spending planned.
Housework tasks are ironing, hanging out washing, cleaning the living room and bedroom.
As I was typing about Mr SA being challenging my theme tune came on the radio - Tubthumping. I get knocked down but I get up again 😆 Will add though Mr SA isn't physically knocking me down but definitely is mentally!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8 -
Our heating is still switched off at the boiler. I definitely noticed it was a bit colder getting out of bed but I don't think the heating would have come on if it had been switched on. It was still toasty warm in the kitchen, that room seems to keep it's heat really well but I suppose it gets warmer than the other rooms due to the waste heat from cooking.
Mr SA does seem to have been really very trying since you have come back off holiday. Hopefully he will calm down again for you soon. Fingers crossed.2 -
My heating never goes off. My logic is that why should I be cold in August when I would not be in December. Also since I have been sleeping so badly it also stays on all night, not that it often comes on.As for your tumbledrier thoughts. You have enough on your plate without having to bother about how you will get the washing dry & it can help save on ironing too.3

I'm sorry to hear Mr SA is being difficult. It seems especially tough when it's a trait you thought had gone away.
Tumble drier: I think if the costs work out for you, go for it. We use ours from time to time, and having large items hanging around the house is a nuisance. It's okay to make things a bit easier for yourself.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Another yes vote to a tumble drier. There is MSE and then there is the personal saving version of that, where you save yourself time, effort and brain space. This is the latter. So justified by the extra washing and there being only you to do everything.4

Wise words and well put, @warby68.
With us all being money-aware, it's too easy to give it priority over 'time, energy and brain space'.
