Thank you! It looks really tasty. I'll save it as I have several portions of soup already for this week but I remember you'd mentioned it before and I thought I'd like to try it. Now I have that chance!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Mr SA is driving me absolutely potty today! He's very restless and keeps taking the dog out for a ride on his scooter. He must be so bored as he does nothing except for watch TV and sit staring into space in the garden. He came back from one trip to ask if I had a spare £50 as he'd seen a bike for sale at the local charity shop. I suspected a bike pester might be starting up as he was eying them up when we visited a retail park recently. Anyway the answer was a firm no to the bike, he's definitely not thought that idea through! Can you imagine him wobbling about all over the roads and generally creating chaos on it 😬
Picked some blackberries from the park across the road this morning to add to my collection of blackberries from the garden. Might have a go at freezing some of them.
Messaged the builder about a quote for DD's bedroom. He's going away for 2 weeks but will have a look early next month. I've asked him to quote for the dining room too but probably won't be able to afford both, depends how much DD's room is. There's not much needs doing to the dining room really, mainly new floor, skirting boards and the ceiling needs skimming. Would also like the bathroom painting.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7 -

Do you have a spare fifty quid for a charity shop bike for Mr SA 😂
Though having said that, is there an exercise bike in your spare room you could proudly present to him as he's so into cycling now but obviously as a cyclist he knows he needs to prep in a stationary manner3 -
Yes @PennysIntoPounds as it happens we do have an exercise bike in the spare room. Does he go on it, does he heck! But he won’t let me get rid of it in case one day he decides to use it 🙄I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

If you could get Mr SA to use the exercise bike it would be brilliant for strengthening his legs and maybe decrease the number of falls.Making the debt go down and savings go up

The thought of Mr SA causing mayhem on the roads on a bike has just made me chuckle out loud. I can just imagine it now
Reminding him about the exercise bike sounds like a good idea if he has bikes on the mind at the minute. Anything to get him doing something each day.2 -
We've been down the use the exercise bike to strengthen your legs road many many times over the years. His response is always yes I'm going to, but he never does. One of the parts of his brain that's damaged is the area that controls motivation - he has none whatsoever.
Mr SA's hare brained scheme no 2 has surfaced in that he's thinking about booking an all inclusive long weekend abroad for my birthday and he's been looking on his phone all morning. Yes it would be nice but other things take priority at the moment and his idea of "just bunging it on the credit card" is a throwback to his pre-illness days as this is exactly what he would've done.
The ironic thing is that he rang me at work to inform me of his latest idea when I was listening to a WW lunchtime talk on stress and how to alleviate it when his call over-rode the talk in my headphones. The cause of all my stress right on cue!
I'm back at home now and he's sulking about me putting my foot down on the holiday. I wish he'd find something to occupy himself other than watching TV and scrolling on his phone. It's not just the cost of a few days abroad, which incidentally is no cheaper than going for a week, it's the spending money, scooter hire, etc.
And breathe...
