You have remined me that it is about time we got our carpets cleaned again. We got some chaps in to do them last time. They only charged £90 to do the whole house and the carpets looked amazing when they had finished.1 -
redofromstart said:Sorry about the carpets. Not the same as your problem but we needed something due to animal accidents.
i have a Bissell pro heat which replaced a useless vax. I use it with ideal 365 Carpet Cleaner which is specifically intended for little accidents in care homes. £13 for 5 litres on Azn.
Thankfully we only have the one carpet in the house. I learned my lesson the hard way years ago when Mr SA was in the building trade, I couldn't keep the carpets clean with the dust and dirt he brought in so replaced them all with hard flooring. Now I still can't keep the carpet clean thanks to him! Maybe it's him who needs replacing not the flooring 🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8 -
Sounds as though you will be putting him on FB Marketplace.
Check the price of the professional carpet cleaners first and see if you can cover the cost with what you get for him.
Seriously though, you are so good at planning ahead. The hard flooring will have saved you a lot of carpet problems, the holidays are planned and the finances seem to be a model of order. People could - and possibly do - take lessons from you. I know it's a matter of survival strategy, and necessary as such, but you're very good at it.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Sorry you’ve still had lots of cleaning. I know you probably have already spoken to them but would it be worth contacting the incontinence folk again. If nothing else just to get it recorded as to how often it’s happening.

Morning everyone. Wet and gloomy start to the day here.
Managed to tick loads off my work to do list yesterday so have more or less caught up. Hoping for a fairly quiet day and to get the final task ticked off.
Also managed to get some gardening done after work, potted up the bedding plants and filled all the empty pots except for one. Should only need one more lot of plants. Also gave the kitchen a good clean and steam scrubbed all the floors.
Today's to do list:
Complete daily Spanish quests
Keep an eye out for surveys - so close to cashing out £50 on YG just 105 points away and have just over £50 to cash out from PA
Shampoo hall and stairs carpet
Dog walking - possibly the park/possibly trip to Lid!
Interval training at 12.30
Zumba at 5.30
Meeting with local councillors in the pub about the park across the road at 7.30
I need to go to Lid! either today or tomorrow. Also still need to pick up the medical exemption form from the GPs but pass that on the way to Lid! so both can be done at the same time. Probably better to do tomorrow as I usually only work 6 hours on Fridays.
Moneywise it's payday eve. Mr SA has received a second £100 cheque from Motability so they will need to be paid in when I'm back in the office next week. One downside of swapping to Nationwide is you can't pay cheques in via the app, not that we get them very often.
Tonight's dinner is an old favourite smoked haddock with leeks, pearl barley and broccoli (should be spelt but still not picked some up, should be cauliflower but won't have any unless I go to Lid! today).I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8 -
Dinner sounds lovely. Not had smoked haddock for ages.1

Well done on getting to the end of your work to do list! Long may it last.
That's a nice amount on surveys, hope you get the final push on YG soon."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney1 -
The carpet situation sounds difficult. I hope you find a solution.
I have used a steam cleaning company before. They cleaned the sofa, carpets and curtains and I don't remember it being expensiveIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
