Oh no to the carpet. Would it be worth buying a carpet cleaner? It might be cheaper than getting professionals in regularly, although it can be a lot more work, so maybe not.

@yuanzhi this is something on my list of things to do so thanks for the reminder. I am officially listed as his carer and ‘responsible person’ so if I’m there either physically or on the phone they consult me usually. But I realise it would be prudent to set up power of attorney.
Glad you have it on the list to do,  it was a weight off my mind when i got it set up for my dad, even if it is not active, it is there if needed.  Though i do need to go set up meeting with his banks to put me down as his responsible person, when my mum died he put me down as joint account holder on his account that all the bills go out of, so i can manage that but i am not on his other accounts officially, he was more aware then so was not such an issue but he has been on a steady decline recently.

I hope Mr SA and your dd are getting on the mend now, i am a bit behind on you diary due to moving house and having a nightmare time with the movers

Could the accidents be alcohol related?  If so is it possible to cut down the amount he drinks?... mind you I realise that it's easier said than done.
I buy Tena Men premium fit from Ebay, (fit like underpants) and they are very good.  Cost around £38 for 6 packs of 8.
Have you thought about if one of those see through plastic runners would be any use?

Not alcohol related as he’s significantly cut down and last night he only had two drinks. It was him forgetting to take his IBS medication again like last week. I think the plastic covering would get slippery if wet.

I do have a carpet cleaner, a Vax, I’m not that impressed with the results. I might give it another chance before calling anyone out though.

I’ll have a look at the Tena pants they sound ideal.

Sorry to hear Mr SA is still having accidents. It does sound to be getting more frequent.

Is it just when he forgets his medication?

Could you get it out for him and put it somewhere prominent where he can't forget it perhaps?

I'm sorry to hear of another accident and having to get a cleaner for the carpet. Perhaps once the cleaner comes they could recommend some protective treatment for the carpet? I don't know of one but I suppose it might exist?

Oh no to yet another accident.  I assume that MrSA wouldn't be able to clean up his own mess or clear it up to an acceptable standard?

I've read The Judge and enjoyed it.  Perhaps the ending was a bit far fetched but the legal insight was very enlightening. Have you read The Satsuma Complex by Bob Mortimer?  I enjoyed that too.

Unfortunately he wouldn’t be able to get down on his hands and knees to clean up after himself.

Not read the Bob Mortimer book, don’t suggest any more books to me, I’ve just over 100 books on my bookshelves 🤣
