I can’t find a link to the recipe so have taken a photo. It’s a recipe from an old Waitr0se magazine. Obviously I’m using smoked basa instead of smoked haddock and pearl barley instead of spelt 😆 It’s absolutely delicious.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7

I have cut out quite a few recipes from Waitrose mags & their free weekend paper. One I particularly like is a bean burger with a very summery chunky salsa-type roast veg topping, but their recipes are quite varied - something for pretty much everyone.

Two sad things about today. First thing was when I was waiting at the vets for the flea treatment to be brought out to me, a vet came out of one of the rooms and lit the candle on reception which means someone is saying goodbye to their pet 😢 It really upset me and brought tears to my eyes. So very sad.
Then I bumped into a neighbour who told me the sad news her 13 year old granddaughter took her own life a year ago. I remember seeing her visiting when she was a bit younger and playing in the garden. She said she’d been meaning to catch me to tell me but is still getting her head around coming to terms with it. Such a tragic waste of a young life.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4 -

I really don’t like pearl barley. My mu used to put it in soup and the texture was all wrong. Put me off for life.

Morning all, happy Saturday. Was up at the crack of dawn so took the soft plastic recycling to the big Mr T. Mr SA was still in bed but managed to request a zip up sweatshirt if I saw one. I knew there’d be something else now the shoes and bag have been acquired. Had 3 spare keys cut at a machine in there, what a long drawn out process that was! I’m going to give a key to DS in case of emergency. We have a key safe on the outside of the house but no one can remember the code and the keys in there are for the old doors. I’m not entirely happy with keeping keys outside even if they are in a safe to be honest.Mr SA was in luck as I spotted a zip up sweatshirt in his size reduced from £29 to £9. It’s a nice one too so he’s happy with it. I wonder what’s next on his list 🤔 So far it’s been shoes, book, bag and sweatshirt. Hat might be next 😬
Just got back from Mr T in time to do my ClubFit class. Still need to take the dog out.
Weigh in day and have lost 1.5lbs this week. That’s my goal of losing 4lbs for holiday smashed as I’ve lost 4.5lbs in total. I had a shock when I first got on the scales as they said I’d lost 7lbs in a week!! I knew that couldn’t possibly be right so tried a few more times but still saying the same. I fiddled with the battery and it was a more believable 1.5lbs but checked 3 times to make sure. I’m really happy with that anyway.DS and the GKs are definitely coming later. I’m going to give DS a few plants as we’re awash with them at the moment. The garden desperately needs weeding and tidying. Everything has gone mad! There are bluebells and white bells everywhere, although not complaining as I love bluebells, but it looks like that pesky garlic mustard is back after missing a year 😞 A couple of years ago we came back from holiday and the whole garden smelled of garlic, the plants had shot up everywhere!Tonight’s dinner is beetroot burger, butternut squash wedges and salad. Need to put the rose cava in fridge.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8
