Yes, it sounds like grab rails in bathroom would be a good thing. My dad had a fall going into bathroom the other week, and if he'd had a rail, he would have been ok, but he just fell into the door frame and ended up on the floor. Mind you, he is stubborn and when OT came out before and made suggestions in the lounge....moving rugs and coffee table etc, he just ignored it and said he wanted it left like it is...which is totally unsuitable. But seriously hope they can do something to help Mr SA.Making the debt go down and savings go up

If the plumber needs to replace the radiator they basically freeze the pipes either side, cut it out and fit a new one (here at least, ancient gas boiler) and it was not massively messy etc. we got them to fit valves so that if it happens again we just turn the tap off to that rad.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Sorry to read Mr SA is having falls. Last time I caught up with your diary Mr SA was unwell but you were (quite rightly) taking time out for yourself here and there.

Finally it's Friday 😁 Although I think this week has flown by.
WFH again today. It's super busy for a Friday.
The plumber has now finished. I couldn't believe he only charged £211 for sorting the radiator out and putting it back on the wall with better fittings, replacing some copper piping, flushing through the whole system, bled all the radiators, supplied/replaced the basin waste in the bathroom sink, tightened up the toilet seat (the one I fitted) and filled a gap under the boiler where cold air was getting in from outside (this has already made a massive difference to the temperature in the kitchen and dining room). He even offered to help put all the boxes back into the under stairs cupboard. I think that's a great price. He really took his time and was here for 3 hours plus an hour yesterday. We are definitely holding onto his phone number although he's partially retired and may not be working for that much longer. I honestly thought it would be a lot more than £211.
I went to Lid! this morning as soon as it opened and got 5 bags of edamame beans, just about managed to get them in the very full freezer.
Exercise today is just walking to/from Lid! and the beauty salon later.
Having my nails done later, trying something different - builder gel with colour (not builder's gel 🤣). This is to help my nails grow longer and stronger. I thought I'd give it a go as I usually just have the gel colour. Survey money has paid for this.
Received the 0ctopus statement yesterday and still £278 in credit. Also opted in for the 30 minutes saving session yesterday.
Tonight's dinner - new recipe alert - spinach and mushroom orzo. I was going to make this a few days ago but changed my plans.
DD is full of cold and coughing. She looks terrible. Hope she's not planning on passing that on.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
There is definitely something doing the rounds. Loads of people at work are either off sick or here coughing and barking!!
I'm hoping to give this one a miss. I have had two colds, covid and a flu this winter already.....................2 -
DD2 knocked a raidiator off the wall in her flat the other day. Her bag strap was caught underneath it so when she picked it up it took the radiator with it. Luckily in her new build the pipes aren’t copper they are flexible amd the radiator just slots onto the brackets so you can lift it off without disconnecting it if you want to decorate behindOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203

All radiators intact here and I'm steering clear: I had no idea they could just fall off!
DH has The Cold too: he was up for hours last night with a cough that wouldn't let him sleep. He had Covid a few weeks ago and wasn't really over that, so perhaps it's been worse for being compounded. Let's hope none of us gets it too.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
