Morning all, happy Sunday.
Got all excited when received an email saying I’d won a prize on last night’s lottery. Logged into the app and it’s the princely sum of £1 - yes £1 😞Got the suitcases out finally 🥳 Made a start on packing the toiletries when Mr SA appeared and started interfering so have come away from it as it was getting too stressful. He decided he didn’t want to take his suitcase as everything he needs will fit in a small hold-all. An argument ensued and ended up reminding him he said this last time and he managed to fill his case!
I hate packing it really shouldn’t be this stressful.
Annoying that cash machines rarely dispense £5 notes. I need 2 x £5 for taxi tips so withdrew £10 from a machine that sometimes dispenses £5 notes only to receive a £10 note 😖 I’ll have to buy something now to change the note.
I need to go to S@vers at some point as there are a couple of things I need to get. Also drop off the soft plastic recycling at the big Mr T. Those trips could wait until tomorrow though.
Need to take the dog out now then recommence packing I suppose.
Tonight’s dinner is yellow split pea and sweet potato curry. That's one of the reasons I like withdrawing cash from the Post Office counter (when they are open, of course) because I can specify how I'd like it paid. Agree £5 notes can be useful.
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.

Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!2 -
I’ve got no further with the packing. Have been out to the local shops and bought 2 packs of Mr SA’s tummy tablets so now have change for £10.
Mr ‘I only need to take a hold-all’ has packed 4 pairs of shoes. Reminded him we are only there for 3 nights and he’ll be in a wheelchair more than he’s walking.
I cut the grass for the first time in weeks. It’s coming back thick and fast after the rain. Picked an aubergine, still have 2 more growing. Lots of courgettes and tomatoes not ready to pick yet. A random tomato plant has sprouted up in a plant pot that I definitely didn’t plant one in. The random tomato will have been a wandering seed. Tomato seeds are famously indestructible! 😉

Should you have any coriander left you can freeze it either whole or chopped, then use it straight from the freezer into whatever you're making. It works better for something cooked rather than using it raw after freezing but saves wasting it

I get the mysteriously germinating tomatoes, too. I just wish they would time themselves early enough to get a harvest from them!
