I don't know whether it is still the same but they used to pay a bonus for anything they could get you to fit new. They told her her boiler couldn't be serviced as the parts were no longer available & that she needed a new one & it needed to be moved out of the garage into the kitchen for safety reasons. They only wanted over £6k for the job nearly 20 years ago. My sister hit the roof & sent her boilerman in & he got the parts to service it no problem & kept it going without any breakdowns until 2012 when she moved out. Personally I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them, but then I had my own issues with them back in the late 70s.

We have heating woo hoo. Took him a good couple of hours to fix it but it's done. It wasn't the boiler it was the controls for the old thermostat which should've been disconnected when Hive was installed. The old controls failed hence the fuse board tripping and it disconnected the boiler from the heating system. I must say the engineer was very good. It already feels so much warmer in the house.
I'm only just taking my lunch break and I'm finishing for the day shortly. I didn't think the engineer would be here so long so I was waiting until he'd gone then I had to go straight into a meeting.
Had to miss my lunchtime bums & tums as he turned up just as it started. Will look for an online one. I did a walking workout this morning to warm myself up and I'm doing a resistance bands session later.
Had a Mr M delivery this morning, no missing items or subs. They sent me a £2 off Valentines gifts, I didn't buy one but still used the voucher and it came off, maybe the bottle of pink cava qualified 😆
On the money front, I transferred some money to the 1p savings challenge and the letter from YBS arrived so I activated my account. Was relieved to see the £300 had made its way there despite my bank thinking it was a scam! I've downloaded their app so it will be easier to keep an eye on. Also noticed they have a decent rate easy access ISA which might be a good home for the sinking and emergency funds - 2.75%.
I'm making a veggie chilli with sweet potato wedges for my dinner tonight.
I'll be glad to get back to normal tomorrow as the past two days have really discombobulated me.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -

Glad to hear your heating is sorted. My bil had a problem with his last week and he got his neighbour who is a police inspector to ring them as he has difficulty with phones these days and they came out the same day and sorted it for him. When he asked his neighbour how he got them to come out so quickly he said he knew the right words to use but unfortunately didnt tell him what they are. This was BG too.3

Fantastic that the heating is sorted. It is certainly cold out there.
We have our emergency savings in the YBS easy access internet saver. I think that is 2.85% so not bad considering you can access it at any time. We keep our sinking funds in there too. We also have the regular saver at 4.5%I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
