    Morning all, happy Tuesday.

WFH today thank goodness. The weather is a bit wet this morning so thankful not to have to go out in it.

I'm starting to really regret volunteering to help with the local Christmas lights switch on. They had a final run through meeting last night that didn't start until 8pm and I had a message I didn't see until this morning asking if I was attending. For goodness sake I'm only sitting on the tombola stall!! Once this lights business is done I'm going to step down from the volunteer group as I realistically don't have the spare time available to add much value and their meetings are always at 8pm which is too late for me. Mr SA is already moaning about what's going to happen with his dinner that night as I'll probably have to set the stall up around 4pm. Wait until he finds out the following night I'm out at the Abba tribute and also need to leave the house around 4pm! That hair shirt is going to get some wear!

Money wise, I've done my weekly finance check and paid off the cc balance. Did a PA survey at 5am from the comfort of my bed.

The Mr M delivery arrived this morning so that was all packed away by 7am. I'm starting to add Christmas food bits into the shop, I don't buy a lot of extras as we don't have a proper Christmas dinner and only have DS and the GKs over on Christmas Eve for a buffet no other visitors.

Exercise plans are dog walking later this morning, a lunchtime bums & tums session and resistance bands tonight.

Torn between making a veggie stew in the slow cooker for tonight's dinner or the PON cauliflower cheese fish pie recipe that I received on an email from them yesterday. Might do the fish pie on Sunday actually. This will be the first year I haven't pre-ordered the latest PON book as there are too many meat/egg/sweet recipes in them and I've realised I'm better off buying vegan cookbooks for this reason.

Randomly received 3 days free Duolingo plus on Sunday so need to make the best of it before it goes. Also need to set up my new bluetooth headphones as they arrived yesterday.

Really regretting offering to help with this blooming tombola stall now. The woman who was running the stall has pulled out and the event organiser is trying to get someone else to help me, so I am now running the stall. She's told me I will need a float of at least £30 the majority of which has to be in £1 coins. I am so close to pulling out!

  • I'd smile sweetly and ask her who will be arranging that float then, as you won't have the time, so you know who to collect it from before the event...

It's sounding as though this is the last time you'll be volunteering. At least you have help now.

I don’t mind being asked to do something but I detest being told to do something - I was on the verge of telling the organiser where to stick it. I think this particular person is a red flag to my bull. You need to provide a float should’ve been worded are you happy to provide a float in my opinion 😡

Basically I don’t like being told what to do 😆

I will continue to volunteer for the park group as they’re very appreciative. Also my volunteering at work as that is also very much appreciated.

In work related volunteering news, I’m now WFH again tomorrow as my presence is needed at an event on Thursday. It should be quite a nice event so happy to attend as long as I’m home in time for my Zumba class 😆

So I didn’t make the fish pie or the veggie slow cooker stew after all. In the end I made a ragu with meat free mince and lots of veg which was delicious. I had a portion with pasta and there are a couple of portions left for the freezer.

I know what you mean about being told what to do especially when volunteering. Those who organise stuff need to learn that asking works better than telling. I would also say that the organiser should be providing a float from the organisations funds not the volunteers. How does she/ he know you have £30 that you can produce at the drop of a hat.

Exactly 👍 I know for a fact that this group has funds. I organise a lot of work events involving volunteers and I’m always careful to ask if they are able to do xyz rather than tell them they have to do xyz.
