  • Our old cat would have laid in precisely that same position SA - well, actually in this house she would probably have been as close as she could get to the fire guard!

I’m also in agreement about the free bakery item being better than the reward for the next level of spend - we struggled to find something to get for that one! I’ll certainly not get right through the lot very often, in fact I think this time round might be a one-off!

Morning all, happy Sunday. I’ve been up for over an hour reading, drinking coffee and generally just enjoying the peace and quiet of my favourite time of the day (apart from going into the office days that is!)

Only one of the promised deliveries turned up yesterday which was the Christmas tree. Mr SA wanted to test it out but I knew once it was assembled I wouldn’t be bothered to take it back down and it’s too early for Christmas decorations yet. He ruined the box it came in by hacking at it with a knife so hopefully I won’t need to return it.

Not much planned for today other than the usual Sunday prepping for the week ahead type stuff. The dog will get a run on the park later this morning and I need to sort out which things to take to the charity shop and drop them off afterwards.

Managed to get some garden tidying done yesterday and almost filled the garden waste bin. It doesn’t look that much better as there are leaves everywhere, the acer is shedding leaves at an alarming rate.

Tonight’s dinner will involve a butternut squash as I have one to use up. I got Mr SA one of those huge beef joints on offer so need to cut that into pieces and freeze. I get quite a few steaks and joints out of them so they’re pretty good value. Despite not eating meat myself it doesn’t bother me handling it. I had to work on a butcher’s counter when I first left school as part of a shop management trainee course. I got quite adept with it at one stage and they wanted me to be their first ever female butchery manager but I declined when I found out I’d have to do part of the training in an abattoir! Not for me I’m afraid.

It should be a NSD, no plans to buy anything today and we don’t need anything food wise.

  • We have an acer tree as well, there are leaves everywhere, despite DH sweeping up loads on Friday. Beautiful trees though

The steam cleaner has arrived. Might test it out later on the bathroom.

Took the dog on the park this morning but we were confined to the bottom bit thanks to a football match. I managed not to throw away any of the footballers water bottles 🤣. Have noticed they’re not leaving them strewn about now 😬 The dog went absolutely crazy yapping with excitement when we took her out, she never tires of “her” park. Had to stop her running on the pitch. A while ago she pooped on the pitch during a match which was really embarrassing 🙈 I’m probably mentioned in the Sunday league teams memos as watch out for the mad woman who takes water bottles and lets her dog 💩 on the pitch 😬

Have made a butternut squash and cherry tomato crumble for dinner very (very!) loosely based on a BBC GF recipe. I didn’t have mascarpone so subbed it for a very tiny amount of sweet chilli Philly and subbed the crumble for breadcrumbs. The remainder of the squash was turned into squash and red pepper soup for work lunches.

Decluttered a tub of Philly cheese from the fridge that had turned into a tub of mould 🤢 It doesn’t last 5 minutes once opened!

Cut the large piece of beef into 7 separate thick steaks/small joints. One is in the slow cooker for Mr SA’s dinner, the rest have gone in the freezer. Cost just under £12 so good value.

Sharpened all my knives - 24 hours in A&E here I come 🤣

Our young Acer dropped all of its leaves a couple of weeks ago. It's just a couple of sticks in a pot now 🤣🤣🤣

We chopped our little acer down a few years ago as I wanted it bonsai size and it’d grown too big. It was chopped down right at the soil level - it sprung up the the following year better than new and we now keep it trimmed nicely. It had leaves on before I went away and was most definitely bald on our return.
The beef in the slow cooker sounds delicious.

That’s Monday finally done. Have been in the office all day as had meetings I needed to be there physically for. Didn’t get home until 5.30.

Went to BnM in my lunch break but was disappointed they didn’t have what I wanted. I did pick up some tea lights and another two of the tiny coconut milk cans that are now 45p each, used to be 3 for £1 last year!

Exercise has been walking to/from work plus the lunchtime walk, just over 20,000 steps.

Tonight’s dinner was freezer surprise - I thought it was a portion of curry - apparently not 🤣 Not sure what it is but it involves chickpeas. It’s nice anyway. Must remember to label anything I put in the freezer 😬

Looking forward to putting my feet up shortly for an hour of TV before going to bed. Absolutely shattered 🥱
